2019 reading goals

So this is the first time that I’m writing a ‘reading goals’ post but I wanted to give it a try and see if I could stick to my goals. I’m not someone who sticks to New Year's resolutions, that’s also why I don’t make them anymore, so I’m not sure if I’ll stick to my reading goals, but I still want to try it!

So I made a few goals this year, nothing too wild, but still interesting!

1. Goodreads 2019 Reading Challenge
Back in 2013 and 2014, I set up my Goodreads Reading Challenge and from 2015 until 2018, I never did it again. I don’t really know why I stopped doing the Reading Challenges, but I wanted to try again this year and see what will happen. In 2018 I read 165 books and I want to read even more books in 2019, so my goal is to read 170 books. I know it’s a lot, but I think I’ll make it!

2. Read more Manga, Comics and Graphic Novels
In November I read my very first Manga, Vampire Knight: Memories, and I really liked it. It’s so easy to read and I love seeing all the illustrations, the same goes for Comics and Graphic Novels. So this year I’d like to read some more Vampire Knight Manga, perhaps start a new series, and read more of the Harley Quinn 2016 comics.

3. Read more LGBT+ books
I’ve read a few books with characters from the LGBT+ spectrum, but I haven’t read enough books with characters who identify themselves as bi, gay, pan, etc. I hope to read more LGBT+ books and help the community by spreading my love for these books. I already have a book on my TBR about a transgender, but I hope to read more books with LGBT+ characters.

4. Finish some book series
I hope to finish some book series this year because I keep on buying and reading books even though my TBR consists of sequels that I haven’t read yet, so series that I haven’t finished yet. There are a few series that I would like to finish:
  • Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard (I’ve only read the first book)
  • Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas (I have to read book 5–7)
  • Talon series by Julie Kagawa (I have to read book 4–5)
5. Finish my current physical TBR
My current physical TBR consists of 18 books, and I think it’s a doable goal to finish these 18 books this year. I’m going to post a blog post about my physical TBR next week, so I’m not going to include too many details here, but my physical TBR consists of Fantasy, Poetry, Romance, … so I get to read a variety of genres.

So these 5 are my reading goals for 2019. Do you have any goals?
