This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Claudia Caren.

Fated Loss tells the story of Rose Kristal. Rose Kristal is the saviour of Astella, but she doesn’t know that any more because her memory was wiped. One day at school strange things began to happen, she could control water and fire, and when she came home to her grandma and grandpa they were talking about fairies?! Rose figured out the truth and is determined to save Astella, but will she be able to save the kingdom?

First of all, I want to say: LOOK AT THE COVER!!! I really love the cover. It’s so beautiful and it was definitely one of the reasons why I accepted this ARC!

Now let’s talk more about the book itself. Fated Loss is an interesting book. I love reading about fairies so I definitely liked the book. The story is kind of something new for me. I feel like with books about fairies, it’s always hard to be original. It’s almost always about learning your powers and defeating evil. I think that Fated Loss has some aspects that I’ve never read before so that’s definitely something good!

I do feel that the story was a bit rushed. It felt like that the author wrote the main idea of the book and added some bits and pieces, instead of a real big story. It does make the book fast-paced, but it felt like something was missing. It also seemed that everything was so easy for the characters. One minute they were doubting themselves and the next they were so confident. Rose has to defeat Queen Ash and she only has a few days to learn how to use her powers. I get that in books it’s always a little easier and faster to learn certain things, but it felt like that Rose never trained and that she still managed to defeat Queen Ash.

I liked Fated Loss, but I think there’s still some work for the author. I hope that Claudia Caren can nail the second book because I’m looking forward to reading it!
