Review

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Samira Vivette!

Pastel Dreams and Glittered Hearts is Samira Vivette’s debut poetry collection and it’s about numerous topics such as depression, anxiety, toxic love, grief, …

These four walls have heard your cries, your screams,
The silent chokes as you held your throat
And begged your body for the aches to cease.

First of all, I want to say that I really like the cover! I’m a sucker for pink covers, and I really like the illustration. As for the poems, I think Samira Vivette did a wonderful job because I felt so many different emotions while reading this poetry collection.

Solitude comforts my aching soul,
Holding me in its arms of silence
Until the tears cease to flow.

Pastel Dreams and Glittered Hearts is divided into a few chapters and every chapter has a different sort of theme/topic. There was one chapter that was about friendship and I could really relate to those. The last couple of years I’ve been struggling with finding true friendship and Samira Vivette just described my feelings.

I wish our friendship ended on a high so I could remember nothing but the good times, but instead our love slowly withered away like a dehydrated flower.

A lot of the poems in Pastel Dreams and Glittered Hearts were really relatable and also really beautiful. Not every poem had a title, so the ones listed below are not the only ones that I loved. I think that this poetry collection was really beautiful and I cannot wait to read more poetry by Samira Vivette!
