Synopsis

You have to be sneaky about tyranny.
The Silver king is as good as dead, which is a dream come true for Laila. It’s not that she’s holding a grudge about the whole unrequited love thing … yes, all right, she is, but she also has a plan.
It’s a good plan. A plan that doesn’t involve pandering to petty annoyances like ‘morals’ or the ‘truth’. After all, the Silver are not moral creatures.
And she can make it appear necessary. Appealing, even. All she needs is a few key allies, and the city will be hers.

Review

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Josie Jaffrey!

The Blue Empress is a prequel novella set in the Sovereign series and tells the story of Laila and what happened before the first book in the series, The Gilded King.

The Blue Empress was an interesting short story because it gives you more information about Laila and her actions. I’ve always wondered what happened with Laila and how/why the Sovereign world is so different from the Solis Invicti world.

In this short story you get more insight of Laila’s feelings and how she really feels about Sol and Emmy. I liked the short story, but I wish it was a bit longer. However, I still think it’s a great addition to the Sovereign series.
