Synopsis

"He is the Angel of Death, and the last thing he should do is keep on saving me."

The prophecy foretold of the true queen…
In the new world, where the old world is long forgotten, an evil queen sits on the throne, and anyone who challenges her reign is a mortal enemy – I am that enemy just by breathing.
The queen always gets what she wants, and she wants me dead.
Then one day, my life is turned upside down by a prophecy naming me the one true queen. I was oblivious to the true roles of the two men in my life – the Angel of Light and the Angel of Death – as my existence hung in the balance. One man there to save me, the other to claim me should the queen succeed in her quest for my blood.
But every time she nearly succeeds in my demise, my dark angel swoops in, pulling me back to safety. Making the world stop.
Pulling everything back in balance.
Tired of being hunted by the vampires, slaves to the queen, I decide to fight back. It’s the only way to survive. I’m going to tear down the wards one by one and free my allies – the witches and the wolves – and then I’m going to force the queen from the safety of her castle and claim what’s rightfully mine.
Her kingdom.
Her throne.
Her crown.

Review

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you T.L. Smith!

Unlikely Queen is the first book in the Crystal Castle series and tells the story of Talia and her sisters Tatiana and Tanya.

This is already my fifth book by T.L. Smith and I really enjoyed it! I read four of her Romance books, so I was really interested in her Fantasy Romance book, Unlikely Queen. The synopsis sounded really promising and from the first few chapters, I was already interested in Talia’s story. I’m used to reading bigger Fantasy books because it’s typical that there’s a lot of world-building and also some explanations, and I kind of missed that in this book. Although the story was great, I’d love to have some more information about everything.

Unlikely Queen is told in Talia’s perspective and you slowly get to know her and the world she lives in – a fantasy world with different creatures. I really liked that T.L. Smith created a world with different creatures because it’s always nice that a book doesn’t focus on one creature, it makes everything more interesting. Talia is a nice character, but I’m even more interested in the Angel of Death. I hope we get to see him more in the second book!

Unlikely Queen was a good first book in a series, and I’m really looking forward to reading more about this world and the characters. I really enjoy T.L. Smith’s writing style and her books are always fast-paced. I really hope we get to read the sequel in the Crystal Castle series soon because I still have so many questions and I want to see how the story is going to continue!
