Synopsis

The stars called us.
The Veil closed at our backs.
And now death holds us in its clutches.

We were torn from life before our time, a Savage King, his queen, a betrayed son, a wronged brother, a scorned wife and so many more. We watch those we left behind as they struggle against the grip of the stars, the answers to so many of their questions within our grasp and yet out of their reach.
But what if we could find a way to answer their pleas? What if we could find a way to help them from this side of the divide? And what price would such a thing come at?

***This is a bridging book which takes place beyond The Veil (in the land of the dead) during the events of book 8 in the Zodiac Academy series. It should be read after book 8 to avoid spoilers for that book and holds the answer to what takes place for the characters who are held within the clutches of death by this point in the story, as well as vital clues to the conclusion of this epic series***

Review

This book was provided by the authors in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti!

Beyond the Veil is a novella that takes place beyond the veil (the land of the dead) during the events of book 8, Sorrow and Starlight. It's recommended to read Beyond the Veil after Sorrow and Starlight.

When I heard that Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti were going to write a novella instead of book 9, I wasn't really happy. I really want to know how the Zodiac Academy series is going to end, and Beyond the Veil makes the wait longer, lol. But I was also kind of excited because we got to read in the POV of a few death characters. How cool is that?!

When I started reading Beyond the Veil, I thought everything was really interesting, but the more I read, the more I got the feeling that this book was more a filler book than a real book. There were lots of moments when I felt like skipping a few bits, instead of reading every word. I hated this feeling because I really wanted to love this book. Don't get me wrong, I still liked it, and if you're a fan of the Zodiac Academy books, you'll probably like this book too, but I was just excited for this series to have a happy ending and this book didn't give me one, lol.

It's kind of hard giving a Zodiac Academy book 3 stars, because I really loved all the other ones. Like I mentioned before, I really wanted to love this one, but I didn't. Beyond the Veil was a good book, I really liked some moments in this book between certain characters, but to me there was a lot of filler content, repeating content and not a lot of new/interesting content. However, I'm still looking forward for book 9!
