Synopsis

I made my choice. I took the hard way out. Now all of our fates are riding on the dice I’m about to throw and luck never was on our side.

I was whole once, with my boys in this slice of paradise we’d carved out for ourselves, but in the time that we were parted we grew up. Grew apart. And as much as I might have yearned to reclaim that girl with the sand between her toes and the sun on her cheeks, it’s time I admit that I spent too long in the shadows to ever truly be her again.

My heart may be breaking for the men I left behind, but I know that I can make that pain count for something, because I’m no fool believing the pretty promises of a mad man.

No. I’m the assassin he just opened his fortress to. And now that I’m inside, I intend to repay him for every moment of suffering he has inflicted upon me and my boys.

Shawn Mackenzie thought he killed me once upon a time. Now this dead girl is back to return the favour.

***Trigger Warning: please be aware this book contains dark scenes of sexual assault and rape. This is NOT done by any of the love interests***

Review

This book was provided by the authors in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti!

Paradise Lagoon is the fourth book in The Harlequin Crew series and continues the story of Rogue and her guys Chase, Fox, JJ and Maverick.

"You really are the most beautifully kind of broken, aren’t you?’

Paradise Lagoon has been a crazy ride, and I loved every bit of it! Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti did it again, they blew me away with this book. The characters have been through a lot and when you finally see some good things happening, something bad happens. It’s no surprise that these evil authors ended Paradise Lagoon with a cliffhanger, but it doesn’t make it easier to process the cliffhanger. I still have so many questions and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book!

It was time to let go of the girl who had died the night I was run out of Sunset Cove all those years ago. And the bitch who was born in her place was ready to rise from the ashes of her corpse.

As I mentioned in my previous reviews: I really love Rogue. I love her because she does whatever she wants, she’s badass and funny, and I love that she doesn’t give up easily. In Paradise Lagoon she goes through some tough stuff, and I think she’s so strong. Rogue’s four men are really strong too. All four of them went through some shit, and I love how they’re starting to grow towards each other again. They’re finally forming a family again, and I’m excited to read about their happy ending in the fifth book.

"So show me you own me, Rogue. Remind me why I worship you.’

I really love that Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti mention some of their other characters in The Harlequin Crew books. Tatum and her men from the Brutal Boys of Everlake Prep series have made an appearance in this book, and the previous ones. And now in Paradise Lagoon, Brooklyn and Mateo from The Death Club series made an appearance too. It’s so fun seeing other characters in The Harlequin Crew books.

"Always and forever. It’s just you guys. No one less and no one else.’

Paradise Lagoon was such a good sequel, and I really loved it. It did take a little longer to read this book but I haven’t had that much time to read this big boy. But I’m so happy that I finished this book and I’m looking forward to reading the fifth and final book in the series, Gallows Bridge!
