Moonstruck inspired make-up look | Tutorial

So you all know that I love every book that Nikki Rae’s written and now with her new book, Moonstruck, I just had to create an inspired make-up look! Moonstruck is such a beautiful cover with the black, pink and the hint of blue. In my look I did black in the crease, pink on the eyelid and blue on the inner corner to accentuate the blue eyes from the cover. I hope you guys all love this look and make sure to check out the book on Goodreads and feel free to read my review

1. Apply primer and a light shade so there’s an even canvas. Put a light-brown eyeshadow in the crease to make easier to apply the black in the crease.

2. Put black eyeshadow in the crease to create a dark look. Try to make the eyeshadow go into a wing to give it some more drama.

3. After the black, apply pink eyeshadow on the lid.

4. Draw a small line with gel liner to make it easier to hide the lash band. Apply gel liner on the waterline as well.

5. Smudge the gel liner with black eyeshadow.

6. Put on a bright pink highlighter.

7. Make the lips vampy by applying a black lipstick.

8. And the last step is lashes. I’ve never done my lashes as the last step, but these are a little harder to apply, so I wanted to take my time when the lipstick was drying.

And that’s the finished look! 🖤

Moonstruck | Review

Title: Moonstruck
Series: Sunshine in Myles’ POV
Author: Nikki Rae
Pages: 327 pages
Version: Ebook (ARC)
Rating: ★★★★★

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you, Nikki!

Moonstruck tells the story of Myles and Sophie. Sophie’s grown up and now it’s time for Myles to come back. Myles must save Sophie and not only of vampires like him, but also from the monsters inside of her head. They slowly start to fall for each other, but then something bad happens…

Moonstruck is such an amazing book. It’s been awhile since I’ve read the Sunshine series so it was so nice to finally read Myles’ POV of Sunshine. Moonstruck makes me want to reread the Sunshine series! I missed Myles and Sophie so much and I hope that Nikki’s going to write Sun Poisoned and Sun Damage in Myles’ POV as well! So please, Nikki, please write Sun Poisoned and Sun Damage in Myles’ POV 😍

I can’t thank Nikki Rae enough for writing such an amazing series and giving me the opportunity to read all of her books! Nikki Rae doesn’t only write books but she puts so much into it and that makes her books feel so real to me. It’s not just a romance book or a vampire book, but also a book about mental health, trust, friendship and family! So thank you, Nikki, for being awesome!

Make sure to check out my Moonstruck inspired make-up look!

I bought another Nyx Liquid Suede Metallic Matte because I couldn’t get enough of my first one (Modern Maven). I had to buy my Nyx Vinyl liner again because my liner was empty and I also bought a white liner because I wanted to try out some detailing work with a white liner. I haven’t used the liner yet, but when I swatched it I could see that the liner has a matt finish. I have a review coming for the Essence Step Into Wonderland collection, so keep an eye out for that. The #ProArtists Freedom eyeshadows are really good! There is some fallout, but I don’t mind at all!

November favourites

  • Without Merit by Colleen Hoover
Colleen Hoover is definitely one of my favourite authors and I love all of her books, the only books that I haven’t read by Colleen Hoover are the Slammed books. Without Merit is definitely one of her best books in the way of mental health and family relationships. Without Merit is such a beautiful book and I couldn’t stop reading! Click here to find out more about Without Merit.
  • Moonstruck by Nikki Rae
Nikki Rae is one of my favourite indie authors and she recently came out with her newest book: Moonstruck. Moonstruck tells the story of Sunshine in Myles’ POV. If you haven’t read Sunshine yet, make sure to check it out on Goodreads.
  • Firstlife by Gena Showalter
Gena Showalter is such an amazing author and she can write so many different genres. I really love Firstlife because it’s so unique and cool and I cannot wait to read the sequel! If you’ve never heard of Firstlife, make sure to check it out on Goodreads!

  • Nyx Liquid Suede Metallic Matte in Biker Babe
I loved my Modern Maven lipstick from this range so I knew that Biker Babe was going to be amazing too. It’s redder than Modern Maven and I think that I love Biker Babe even more. You should definitely check these lipsticks out on the Nyx website!
  • #ProArtist Freedom Pro HD Pro Eyeshadow Matte 09
I bought this single eye shadow in a grey/brown colour and I really like it! It’s such a beautiful colour and such a nice pigment. I do want to say that there is some fallout, but I don’t mind. It’s more or less the same as the Nyx Ultimate Shadow Palette in Brights. I really like this formula and I cannot wait to discover more shades in this range!

  • Momade Cupcakes Red Velvet cupcake
I went to Antwerp with my friend in the beginning of November and I tried out a lot of new things. The first thing that I’ve tried was the Momade Cupcake in Red Velvet. It was so delicious wow! Make sure to check out their website!
  • Starbucks Peach Green Tea Lemonade
And the second thing that I’ve tried out is the Starbucks Peach Green Tea Lemonade and I know for sure that I’m going to buy it again! I’m always really sketchy about trying new things – I’m a difficult person, I know. My friend said it was so delicious and she was going to buy it, so I went along and bought it too. It’s such a nice taste and you should definitely try out yourself! For those who want to know the ingredients, I think it’s this one on their website.
Other things
  • Lush bath bomb: Luxury Lush Pud
I’ve never tried out a Lush bath bomb, but my friend was going to buy one so I also bought one (she has a bad influence, she makes me buy a lot of stuff!). I wanted something with a lavender scent because I love their Sleepy Body Lotion. I had two options: the Twilight bath bomb, or the Christmas equivalent, the Luxury Lush Pud. I wanted the Christmas one because it’s almost Christmas and it looked so nice. I’ve tried out the bomb and here’s a little clip of the water:
At the end, when the bomb is gone, you’re left with red water and glitter! 😍

I love love love lipstick! I could wear it every day, every single minute! I love my dark lipsticks, but also my nudes! So here, my top 5 lipstick formulas, in alphabetical order!

I’m sorry that I didn’t choose 5 different brands, I chose only 2 brands: Essence and Nyx. I really like the Essence Matt Matt Matt lipsticks and I just really love all the Nyx lipsticks I own. Both Essence and Nyx are so good and so affordable!
1. Essence Matt Matt Matt lipstick
The Essence lipsticks are like the Catrice lipsticks but with a more matt finish. They’re also not drying but I have one blue Matt Matt Matt (Vibrant Shock) lipstick that isn’t that good. But all the other colours are beautiful! Click here to check out these lipsticks.
I own the shades:
  • 02 Perfect Match
  • 03 Wow Effect
  • 07 Purple Power
  • 08 It’s A Statement
  • 09 Rockin’ Princess
  • 11 Rave It Up!
  • 13 Out of the Box
  • 14 Adorable Matt!
2. Nyx Lip Lingerie

The Nyx Lip Lingeries are liquid lipsticks that are so beautiful! They dry completely matt and for me they aren’t drying. I’ve read some reviews that people don’t like them because they’re really dry, but for me they are perfect! Click here to check out these lipsticks.
I own the shades:
  • 01 Honeymoon
  • 17 Seduction
  • 20 French Maid
3. Nyx Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick
The Nyx Liquid Suede Creams are really beautiful and really soft. They have a cream to matt finish, and they’re really easy to work with. Nyx came out with a lot of colourful shades in the Liquid Suede range. Click here to check out these lipsticks.
I own the shades:
  • 12 Vintage
  • 21 Brooklyn Thorn
  • 24 Alien
4. Nyx Liquid Suede Metallic Matte
I only have one shade of the Nyx Liquid Suede Metallic Mattes, but I  just know that it’s one of my favourite lipsticks. When I first tried this lipstick, I wasn’t sure whether it was going to be a cream finish or a matt finish. I know the name says ‘matte’ but I have tried ‘matt’ lipsticks that weren’t fully matt. But the Nyx Liquid Suede Metallic Mattes have a matt finish and they are so pretty! I’m definitely buying more of these lipsticks! Click here to check out these lipsticks.
  • 39 Modern Maven
5. Nyx Matte Lipstick
The Nyx Matte Lipsticks are like the Essence Matt Matt Matt lipsticks. Normal lipsticks with a matt finish. They’re really beautiful and Nyx has a lot of different colours in this range. Click here to check out these lipsticks.

The Princess Diarist | Review

Title: The Princess Diarist
Author: Carrie Fisher
Pages: 267 pages
Version: Ebook (ARC)
Publisher: Blue Rider Press
Release date: 22 November 2017
Rating: ★

This book was provided by the Publisher through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Netgalley and Blue Rider Press!

When I found out that The Princess Diarist was available on Netgalley, I just had to request it! I’ve been in love with Star Wars since I was a child and I was devastated when I heard the news that Carrie Fisher died. I’m so happy that I got the chance to read The Princess Diarist in advance and keep on reading to find out my opinion and thoughts!

The Princess Diarist is a sort of biography about Carrie Fisher and Star Wars. The Princess Diarist gives some behind-the-scenes information during the making of Star Wars, a secret between Carrie and Harrison Ford and some excerpts of her diary.

An excerpt of her diary:

"My panic is rising again. My sense of isolation and worthlessness. And no other senses worth mentioning apparently. It’s not nice being inside my head. It’s a nice place to visit but I don’t want to live in here. It’s too crowded; too many traps and pitfalls.’

If you’re a Star Wars fan and you want to know more about Carrie Fisher and some behind-the-scenes stuff, then this is your book! I loved reading The Princess Diarist and it even made me want to watch the movies again! The Princess Diarist gives us so much more than we actually knew about Carrie Fisher. I’m really happy that we got to read some excerpts of her diary. I know she’s bipolar and that she had some addictions, and those diary excerpts made it all so clear. I don’t really know how to explain myself, but while reading those excerpts, it felt like I got to know her a lot better. I’ve always been a fan of her because she’s my Princess Leia and now after reading The Princess Diarist, I feel like the chapter of her life is finally closed. I don’t mean that I’m going to forget her or anything, but I was really sad when Carrie Fisher died, and reading The Princess Diarist is like closure for me.

I can’t say enough how much I loved The Princess Diarist and I highly recommend it to all the Star Wars fans!

Mental health update 2

*Trigger warning: descriptions of or extensive discussion on self-harming behaviour*

It’s been awhile since I’ve written an update about my depression and anxiety. Well, let’s give you an update!

During the summer vacation there were a lot of days that I felt like crap, that I stayed inside and didn’t go out. I know you all might think it’s my own fault, but I can’t help it. It’s the depression and anxiety that kicks in. I thought that I would feel better when college started but I was wrong. When college started I did feel good, but the more weeks passed by, the more I began to feel like crap. I still get out of my bed and I still go to every lesson, but being at school doesn’t make me feel better any more. I like having my friends at school and I like listening to them, but they don’t always make me feel better. And no, I don’t blame my friends – they are amazing – but it’s the depression. I still love going to college but I when I look at my diary and see all the things that I have to do in so little time, it stresses me out. It gives me anxiety, I feel bad and then I feel depressed.

My parents kept asking me to make an appointment with a school counsellor to talk about my depression and anxiety. When school started, I didn’t feel like talking to someone, so I kept pushing it back and telling my parents that I forgot about it. But, in October I finally sent the mail to make an appointment. I could choose between 3 different counsellors/psychologists and I chose the one who looked the kindest. I know, looks can deceive but I think it’s easier for me to talk to someone who looks kind. It’s already hard enough for me to talk to someone I don’t know. But I finally made the appointment, so I was proud of myself!

So now a little more about my appointment with the psychologist. My appointment was on November 9, so last week. I was really nervous and when I walked into her office I started crying because of my anxiety and nervousness, luckily she wasn’t there yet. When she entered I was still really nervous and warned her that I cry easily so that she shouldn’t be worried. In the beginning, I thought it was going to be really hard to open up to her because I always overthink what I’m going to say. Surprisingly it was not that hard to open up to her. I stopped thinking and just let everything come out of my mouth.

At the end of my appointment she came to the conclusion that she couldn’t give me the help that I need. She thinks that a real therapist would be better because they know so much more than she does. She kindly explained the procedure of how everything is going to go and in two weeks, she’s going to give me a list of possible therapists. She gave me some information, and then we laughed a little. I didn’t think that I was going to be so relieved after talking to a professional. I’ve been carrying this for such a long time and now that I’ve finally told someone, I feel somewhat better.

I’m happy that I finally talked to someone but I am scared to see what’s next. I’m scared of the unknown but I hope that everything will be okay.

Lush Sleepy Body Lotion | Review

Brand: Lush
Product: Sleepy Body Lotion
Price: €11.95 for 95 gr
Rating: ★★★★

I never heard of the Lush Sleepy Body Lotion until my sister sent me a blog post about someone trying out the body lotion. My sister knows that I have anxiety and due to my anxiety I’m a bad sleeper. It’s hard for me to fall asleep because I can’t stop thinking and thinking and thinking.

I have a friend, Sarah, who works at the Lush store in Antwerp and when I read the article, I immediately sent her a message about the Sleepy Body Lotion and asking how it really works. She told me some information about how it works and what kind of scent the body lotion has. She recommended stopping by the store to see if the texture of the body lotion was something for me and whether the lavender scent isn’t too much for me.

A few weeks later I stopped by the Lush store in Antwerp and Sarah was so kind and she explained everything again and massaged some body lotion on my hand. The lavender scent is really strong, but when you use a small amount, it’s not that strong. It’s even a nice scent. The texture takes a little while to dry, but it’s so pleasant on the skin. So after trying the body lotion out in the store, I just had to buy the Sleepy Body Lotion!

First I’m going to give some more product information for those who are interested.

The Sleepy Body Lotion is vegan and cruelty-free!
This ingredient list is from the Lush website!
So now more about the product and my opinion. I didn’t have high expectations because I thought it was just a good-smelling body lotion, but I was so wrong! I have a hard time falling asleep and now it’s somewhat easier. I really like the smell and the lavender makes me at ease.

First I used a small amount on my hands, wrists and in my neck, that’s what Sarah’s recommended me. Later on I tried some more because I didn’t smell the lavender that much and I wanted more lavender. Now I use more on my hands, wrists (and a little on my arms) and neck, also a little underneath my nose so I can smell the lavender immediately. I love the lavender scent and I think I can’t live without it any more .

The Lush Body Lotion is my holy grail because now I don’t have that much trouble falling asleep. I do have to say that I still wake up in the middle of the night and then have a hard time falling asleep, but maybe I just need to reapply the body lotion and then everything’ll be okay. I’ll have to test that theory! I also have to say that it doesn’t always work. There still are some days that I struggle with sleeping, but it works most of the time.

Overall I love this product and I’m so happy that my sister found that blog post. I also want to thank Sarah for sending me all the information and helping me at the Lush store in Antwerp! You can always check out the Lush website and Sarah’s YouTube channel because she uses a lot of Lush products and loves talking about them!
