Version: Ebook (ARC)
Release date: 15 September 2019

Synopsis

He’s supposed to be the ruler of this kingdom.
The prince poised to take his rightful place on the pitch.
Instead, he plays the jester, shunning his legacy.
Only I am privy to his lion heart.

Kingston Phillips is the heir to England’s football dynasty. The offspring of two of the world’s greatest players, the expectations set on his shoulders could crush the universe. But the golden-haired Adonis chooses to live his life as a game; a series of nightclubs, brawls, pranks and different kit chasers parading through his sheets.

I’m the last woman he should chase, and I’ve told him so. My cheeky mouth and icy demeanor guard the secret no one can learn. But when the Casanova I’ve been avoiding becomes the bloke next door, he quickly begins to thaw the frost around my heart. Kingston shows me the ferocious, loyal, protective side of himself that no one else gets to witness.

I begin to realize that he’s just as damaged as I am.
That as much as I try to deny it, we’re the same.
And … that might just be our undoing.

Review

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Carrie Aarons!

The Lion Heart is the second book in the Rogue Academy series and tells the story of Kingston and Poppy. Although this is the second book in the series, it can be read as a standalone.

The Lion Heart was yet another amazing book by Carrie Aarons! I’m such a fan of Sports Romance and I loved the first book, The Second Coming! The Lion Heart was such a good sequel, and I couldn’t put this book down. I finished it in one sitting because it was just that good.

I really liked the characters, Kingston and Poppy, because they both have been through some stuff and they try to hide it. Their lives seem perfect, but they aren’t perfect at all… I love that Kingston is such a stubborn guy because he doesn’t give up when it comes to Poppy. Poppy seems like a bitch, but she’s such a good person. When they finally get to know each other, it’s hard not to fall in love…

The Lion Heart was such a good book and I love that Carrie Aarons writes Romance with some serious and hard topics. I really loved this book and I cannot wait to read the next one in the series!

Review

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Sadie Moss!

Clash is the final book in the Academy of Unpredictable Magic series and continues the story of Elliot and her four men.

Clash was yet another amazing book in the Academy of Unpredictable Magic, and is sadly the last book in the series. It’s really hard saying goodbye to such a good series because I loved reading about Elliot and her men. This series is definitely one of my favourite series by Sadie Moss so far!

Clash is such an addictive and wonderful read. I finished this book in two days and it would’ve been one day if I didn’t have to study. Every book in the series is so fast paced and well written, it’s easy to get in the story and fall in love with the characters!

The last chapter of Clash was one of the best and sexiest endings ever! I’m sad and happy that this series is over. Who wouldn’t be happy with an ending like that?! I just couldn’t stop smiling the entire time. Elliot and her men are just such amazing characters and they deserve their happily ever after!

Clash was such a good book and I cannot wait to read another series by Sadie Moss!

Review

This book was provided by the authors in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti!

Zodiac Academy: Ruthless Fae is the second book in the Supernatural Beasts and Bullies series and tells the story of the twins Tory and Darcy.

After reading the prequel and the first book in the Supernatural Beasts and Bullies series, I just knew that I was going to love every book in the series. Zodiac Academy: Ruthless Fae didn’t disappoint at all. It was such an addictive read and I couldn’t put it down. I read it in one sitting because it was just that good!

I really liked that we got to read in more perspectives that just Tory and Darcy. We also got to read in Orion’s perspective as well as the Heirs’ perspective. I really liked that because you get to know their true feelings and why they do certain things. My favourite perspectives are Tory, Darcy and Orion.

I really like Darcy and Orion together. I’m such a sucker for teacher/student romances and I like them even more when the characters are of age, like in this series. As for Tory, I’m picking Darius because he’s so secretive and sexy. It’s hard to explain it, but I’d pick him over Caleb, Seth or Max. I really like the main characters, Tory and Darcy because they’re so badass, they don’t give up and keep fighting!

Zodiac Academy: Ruthless Fae was yet another amazing book by Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti. The Supernatural Beasts and Bullies series is my favourite series by them so far! I cannot wait for the sequel and read more about the twins, the heirs and Orion!

Series: Red Queen #4
Author: Victoria Aveyard
Pages: 672 pages
Version: Paperback

Rating: ★★★★★

Synopsis

The #1 New York Times bestselling Red Queen series comes to a stunning conclusion in War Storm.

Mare Barrow learned this all too well when Cal’s betrayal nearly destroyed her. Now determined to protect her heart—and secure freedom for Reds and newbloods like her—Mare resolves to overthrow the kingdom of Norta once and for all … starting with the crown on Maven’s head.

But no battle is won alone, and before the Reds may rise as one, Mare must side with the boy who broke her heart in order to defeat the boy who almost broke her. Cal’s powerful Silver allies, alongside Mare and the Scarlet Guard, prove a formidable force. But Maven is driven by an obsession so deep, he will stop at nothing to have Mare as his own again, even if it means demolish everything—and everyone—in his path.

War is coming, and all Mare has fought for hangs in the balance. Will victory be enough to topple the Silver kingdoms? Or will the little lightning girl be forever silenced?

In the epic conclusion to Victoria Aveyard’s stunning series, Mare must embrace her fate and summon all her power … for all will be tested, but not all will survive.

Goodreads ~ Amazon

Review

War Storm is the fourth and final book in the Red Queen series and continues Mare’s story.

Love can be exploited, I guess, used to manipulate. It’s leverage. But I would never call loving someone else a weakness. I think living without love at all, any kind of love, is weakness. And the worst kind of darkness.

I’m glad that I finally finished the Red Queen series, besides the novella, because it’s such a good series and I enjoyed every page. I really like the world Victoria Aveyard’s created and the characters are so hard not to like!

You forged this crown yourself – now wear it. Or don’t.

Like in every book, I cannot get enough of Mare and Cal, they’re one of my favourite couples and I love reading memes about them on Pinterest. It’s one of my guilty pleasures! Besides Mare’s perspective, we also read in Evangeline, Iris, Maven and Cal’s perspective. I really like that we got to read in Evangeline, Maven and Cal’s perspective, but I didn’t really care about Iris.

When she moves, I realize her hair is different too. The gray ends are gone, replaced by a beautiful, familiar purple.

War Storm was such a good book, and I really liked the ending. Not everyone was really happy with how War Storm ended, but I really liked it. *spoiler ahead* You just know deep down that Mare and Cal belong together and that they will see each other one day! I loved this series and I cannot wait to read Broken Throne!

September Bullet Journal set up

Here I am with another Bullet Journal post. It’s been awhile since I wasn’t really happy with what I’ve created or everything kinda looked the same. If you follow my Instagram, you might have seen some of my Bullet Journal set ups that I didn’t post here.

Previous Bullet Journal set ups:

So for my September wrap up I decided to create something different that I’ve done before. I decided to use some pictures from Pinterest, which you can find on my Pinterest board, and my inspiration comes from Sarah’s Spark. She’s an amazing YouTuber and she makes videos about Bullet Journal’ing and other stuff. She always (or at least in her videos) uses pictures in her spreads and I really liked that idea. I also recreated the grid she always uses to write down when she has to work at Lush. Make sure to check out her BuJo videos because they’re really helpful!

For my monthly spread, I did something weird and decided to make the grid on one page instead of two pages, like I usually do. The next page is a little ‘to do’ list and ‘to be read’ list. I always made a little ‘to do"list and an "important" list but I like this better. I have more space to write things down. I also want to apologise for the change in lighting in all the pictures, the sun was messing with me!

After my monthly spread, I always do a habit tracker spread and this time I also created a brain dump spread so I can just scribble things that come to my mind. I'm not sure if I'm going to use it or not, but we'll see!

These are my weekly spreads. They're really simple but I love adding the pictures to give it something extra. I also made a extra grid at the left so I can fill in at which hours I have to work or go to school.

For the last weekly spread, I just made the left page like every other page except I added some washi tape and "next month" so I can write down which days I need to work, which tasks or tests I have etc. The right page is my monthly wrap up page, which shows the books I read and the TV shows/movies I watched in September. I also added the "pages read" so I know how many pages I read in September.

I hope you guys liked this Bullet Journal set up and feel free to pin this post on Pinterest!

My body.

My heart.

My soul.

________________________

She thinks she can’t love.

Especially me.

But I would give anything to love her. If only my demons can stay in the past.

Review

This book was provided by the author through Enticing Journey Book Promotions in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Tori Fox and Enticing Journey Book Promotions!

Broken Pieces is the second book in the White Creek series and tells the story of Raelynn and Brooks. Although this is the second book in the series, it can be read as a standalone.

Broken Pieces was yet another amazing book by Tori Fox. I think that Broken Pieces is so far my favourite book in the White Creek series! Although it’s been awhile since I read the first book, Missing Pieces, it wasn’t really hard to remember who was who. I really liked reading about Easton and Harper, the main characters from Missing Pieces.

Raelynn and Brooks are characters that I cannot get enough of. At the beginning of the book they kind of hate each other, but that hate changes into hot sex! I’m a sucker for enemies-to-lovers Romances and Raelynn and Brooks were just the perfect couple for this!

I really loved that this book wasn’t just about the romance, but also about abuse, addiction, loss, depression, … These elements make Broken Pieces seem more realistic. Broken Pieces was an amazing book and I cannot wait to read the third book in the series, Forgotten Pieces!

About the author
Tori Fox loves books. So much so she decided to write one. It didn’t go well. But after genre changes, many rewrites, and lots of editing she finally finished. And now that she is done, she doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Besides writing you can find her curled up on the couch with her dog reading a book or lost in a makeup store purchasing more makeup than is necessary for a human. She is also a fan of hockey and whiskey, especially together. Tori lives with her fiancĂ© in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

Kingdom Untold is the third book in the Kingdom Cold series and continues the story of Charlotte, Young and Minseo

First I like to talk about the cover, I mean, look at it! It’s definitely my favourite cover in the series. I love the white figures in the back and the background looks so beautiful!

Now onto the story and characters: I liked Kingdom Untold but it wasn’t the best book in the series. For some reason it felt a bit rushed sometimes and I couldn’t always connect to the characters. Sometimes it looked really easy for the characters to do certain things and it kind of bothered me.

But besides that, I think that Kingdom Untold was a good ending for the trilogy and I cannot wait to read Brittni Chenelle’s next book!

I Never Planned On You is the first book in the I Never series and tells the story of Danielle and Kyler. Danielle lost the love of her life and will she ever be able to love someone else?

I Never Planned On You is the first book I’ve read by Stefanie Jenkins and I cannot believe that this book is her debut novel. I Never Planned On You was such a beautiful book and so hard to put down! This isn’t your usual Romance story because this book deals also with heartbreak, hope, loss, family and friendship.

I really loved Danielle and Kyler. Danielle went through so much, and she practically ran away from her problems. She finally decides to come home and when she does, she meets Kyler. Kyler is such a kind, understanding and amazing guy. He also has two sisters, a twin, and it’s so fun to read about their relationship.

I Never Planned On You was such a beautiful and emotional book. There were times that I was constantly crying and it was so hard to read the words with tears in my eyes. I think that Stefanie Jenkins did an amazing job and I cannot wait to read the sequel, I Never Expected You!

King's Cage | Review

Title: King’s Cage
Series: Red Queen #3
Author: Victoria Aveyard
Pages: 528 pages
Version: Paperback
Publisher: HarperTeen (HarperCollins)
Rating: ★★★★★

Synopsis

In this breathless third installment to Victoria Aveyard’s #1 New York Times bestselling Red Queen series, rebellion is rising and allegiances will be tested on every side. Perfect for fans of George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones series.

Mare Barrow is a prisoner, powerless without her lightning, tormented by her lethal mistakes. She lives at the mercy of a boy she once loved, a boy made of lies and betrayal. Now a king, Maven Calore continues weaving his dead mother’s web in an attempt to maintain control over his country—and his prisoner.

As Mare bears the weight of Silent Stone in the palace, her once-ragtag band of newbloods and Reds continue organizing, training, and expanding. They prepare for war, no longer able to linger in the shadows. And Cal, the exiled prince with his own claim on Mare’s heart, will stop at nothing to bring her back.

When blood turns on blood, and ability on ability, there may be no one left to put out the fire—leaving Norta as Mare knows it to burn all the way down.

Review

King’s Cage is the third book in the Red Queen series and continues Mare’s story full of manipulation and war.

Now I’m in a king’s cage. But so is he. My chains are Silent Stone. His is the crown.

I’m glad that I’m binge reading the Red Queen series because every book keeps on getting better and better. I cannot even write a review now because I’m kind of speechless. A lot happened in this book and we even got to read a few chapters in Cameron and Evangeline’s perspective. I liked getting to know their sides of the story.

From the outside, it looks like a cage of electricity, but it’ a cage of my own making. A cage I control.
I dare any king to put me in a cage now.

I really loved Mare and Cal’s relationship in the book. Their romance isn’t the main focus of this book, it’s still important I think. I also liked reading about Mare and Farley’s friendship as well as Mare and Cameron’s friendship. And I gotta be honest, I kind of feel bad for Maven…

To stand in front of a person who is your whole world and be told you are not enough. You are not the choice. You are a shadow to the person who is your sun.

Like I mentioned in my review of Glass Sword, Victoria Aveyard always ends her books with massive cliffhangers and I kind of expected this one, but that doesn’t mean it hurts any less… I really need to read War Storm now!

The Complete Captive Heart Duet contains book 1 and 2, Lost and Found, in the Captive Heart series and tells the story of Charlotte and Tucker.

First I’d like to start my review with my ratings for both books:

Lost: 4.5/5
Found: 5/5
Total: 4.75/5

Let’s talk about those books. I really liked this duet because it isn’t your average Romance story. This story talks about addiction, dealing with pain, strained (family) relationships, emotional abuse, … The Complete Captive Heart Duet is the darkest book by Carrie Aarons I’ve read so far and I just loved it. I couldn’t stop reading, I had to know what was going to happen to the characters and how this series was going to end.

Our main characters, Charlotte and Tucker are both so different but they’re both lost. I really liked the way this story began and how everything changed for Charlotte and Tucker. I also really liked the fact that their relationship wasn’t an easy relationship and that they both had to work for it. It’s just more realistic and it makes our characters seem more human (and not fantasy).

I was really glad that I could read Lost and Found in a few days and that I didn’t have to wait for the next book to come out. Lost had such a cliffhanger and I just had to know what was going to happen next! The Captive Heart series is yet another amazing series by Carrie Aarons and I cannot wait to read her other books!

About the author
Author of romance novels such as Red Card and Privileged, Carrie Aarons writes books that are just as swoon-worthy as they are sarcastic. A former journalist, she prefers the stories she dreams up, and the yoga pant dress code, much better.

When she isn't writing, Carrie is busy binging reality TV, having a love/hate relationship with cardio, and trying not to burn dinner. She lives in the suburbs of New Jersey with her husband, daughter and dog.

Love’s Hot is the fifth book in the Time For Love series and tells the story of Kane and Lilly. Although Love’s Hot is the fifth book in the series, it can be read as a standalone.

Love’s Hot is the first book I’ve read by Karen Deen and I’m sure that I’m going to read all the other books by her. She’s such an amazing author because she got me hooked on the first chapter. It was so hard to put this book down, I really liked the story and the characters!

Kane and Lilly are perfect for each other even though they don’t know it. I really loved their connection and their arrangement. I just knew that they were going to end up together because they belong together. Kane is such an amazing guy and I just love that Lilly is a bit crazy and witty!

I really loved Love’s Hot, not just for the steamy scenes, but for the connection between Kane and Lily! The epilogue was amazing and I cannot wait to read the other books in the Time For Love series!
