Review

This book was provided by the author through Enticing Journey Book Promotions in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Tori Fox and Enticing Journey Book Promotions!

Broken Pieces is the second book in the White Creek series and tells the story of Raelynn and Brooks. Although this is the second book in the series, it can be read as a standalone.

Broken Pieces was yet another amazing book by Tori Fox. I think that Broken Pieces is so far my favourite book in the White Creek series! Although it’s been awhile since I read the first book, Missing Pieces, it wasn’t really hard to remember who was who. I really liked reading about Easton and Harper, the main characters from Missing Pieces.

Raelynn and Brooks are characters that I cannot get enough of. At the beginning of the book they kind of hate each other, but that hate changes into hot sex! I’m a sucker for enemies-to-lovers Romances and Raelynn and Brooks were just the perfect couple for this!

I really loved that this book wasn’t just about the romance, but also about abuse, addiction, loss, depression, … These elements make Broken Pieces seem more realistic. Broken Pieces was an amazing book and I cannot wait to read the third book in the series, Forgotten Pieces!

About the author
Tori Fox loves books. So much so she decided to write one. It didn’t go well. But after genre changes, many rewrites, and lots of editing she finally finished. And now that she is done, she doesn’t plan on stopping anytime soon. Besides writing you can find her curled up on the couch with her dog reading a book or lost in a makeup store purchasing more makeup than is necessary for a human. She is also a fan of hockey and whiskey, especially together. Tori lives with her fiancĂ© in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains.

Beyond the landscape of lies and treachery, Charlotte will need to navigate her feelings wisely. Can Minseo be trusted with the ultimate secret? Wherever young Morgana goes, a trail of ash is left behind, in consequence of something sought by sorcerers and mortal fiends … united, closing in.

Review

Kingdom Untold is the third book in the Kingdom Cold series and continues the story of Charlotte, Young and Minseo

First I like to talk about the cover, I mean, look at it! It’s definitely my favourite cover in the series. I love the white figures in the back and the background looks so beautiful!

Now onto the story and characters: I liked Kingdom Untold but it wasn’t the best book in the series. For some reason it felt a bit rushed sometimes and I couldn’t always connect to the characters. Sometimes it looked really easy for the characters to do certain things and it kind of bothered me.

But besides that, I think that Kingdom Untold was a good ending for the trilogy and I cannot wait to read Brittni Chenelle’s next book!

I Never Planned On You is the first book in the I Never series and tells the story of Danielle and Kyler. Danielle lost the love of her life and will she ever be able to love someone else?

I Never Planned On You is the first book I’ve read by Stefanie Jenkins and I cannot believe that this book is her debut novel. I Never Planned On You was such a beautiful book and so hard to put down! This isn’t your usual Romance story because this book deals also with heartbreak, hope, loss, family and friendship.

I really loved Danielle and Kyler. Danielle went through so much, and she practically ran away from her problems. She finally decides to come home and when she does, she meets Kyler. Kyler is such a kind, understanding and amazing guy. He also has two sisters, a twin, and it’s so fun to read about their relationship.

I Never Planned On You was such a beautiful and emotional book. There were times that I was constantly crying and it was so hard to read the words with tears in my eyes. I think that Stefanie Jenkins did an amazing job and I cannot wait to read the sequel, I Never Expected You!

King's Cage | Review

Title: King’s Cage
Series: Red Queen #3
Author: Victoria Aveyard
Pages: 528 pages
Version: Paperback
Publisher: HarperTeen (HarperCollins)
Rating: ★★★★★

Synopsis

In this breathless third installment to Victoria Aveyard’s #1 New York Times bestselling Red Queen series, rebellion is rising and allegiances will be tested on every side. Perfect for fans of George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones series.

Mare Barrow is a prisoner, powerless without her lightning, tormented by her lethal mistakes. She lives at the mercy of a boy she once loved, a boy made of lies and betrayal. Now a king, Maven Calore continues weaving his dead mother’s web in an attempt to maintain control over his country—and his prisoner.

As Mare bears the weight of Silent Stone in the palace, her once-ragtag band of newbloods and Reds continue organizing, training, and expanding. They prepare for war, no longer able to linger in the shadows. And Cal, the exiled prince with his own claim on Mare’s heart, will stop at nothing to bring her back.

When blood turns on blood, and ability on ability, there may be no one left to put out the fire—leaving Norta as Mare knows it to burn all the way down.

Review

King’s Cage is the third book in the Red Queen series and continues Mare’s story full of manipulation and war.

Now I’m in a king’s cage. But so is he. My chains are Silent Stone. His is the crown.

I’m glad that I’m binge reading the Red Queen series because every book keeps on getting better and better. I cannot even write a review now because I’m kind of speechless. A lot happened in this book and we even got to read a few chapters in Cameron and Evangeline’s perspective. I liked getting to know their sides of the story.

From the outside, it looks like a cage of electricity, but it’ a cage of my own making. A cage I control.
I dare any king to put me in a cage now.

I really loved Mare and Cal’s relationship in the book. Their romance isn’t the main focus of this book, it’s still important I think. I also liked reading about Mare and Farley’s friendship as well as Mare and Cameron’s friendship. And I gotta be honest, I kind of feel bad for Maven…

To stand in front of a person who is your whole world and be told you are not enough. You are not the choice. You are a shadow to the person who is your sun.

Like I mentioned in my review of Glass Sword, Victoria Aveyard always ends her books with massive cliffhangers and I kind of expected this one, but that doesn’t mean it hurts any less… I really need to read War Storm now!

Review

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Carrie Aarons!

The Complete Captive Heart Duet contains book 1 and 2, Lost and Found, in the Captive Heart series and tells the story of Charlotte and Tucker.

First I’d like to start my review with my ratings for both books:

Lost: 4.5/5
Found: 5/5
Total: 4.75/5

Let’s talk about those books. I really liked this duet because it isn’t your average Romance story. This story talks about addiction, dealing with pain, strained (family) relationships, emotional abuse, … The Complete Captive Heart Duet is the darkest book by Carrie Aarons I’ve read so far and I just loved it. I couldn’t stop reading, I had to know what was going to happen to the characters and how this series was going to end.

Our main characters, Charlotte and Tucker are both so different but they’re both lost. I really liked the way this story began and how everything changed for Charlotte and Tucker. I also really liked the fact that their relationship wasn’t an easy relationship and that they both had to work for it. It’s just more realistic and it makes our characters seem more human (and not fantasy).

I was really glad that I could read Lost and Found in a few days and that I didn’t have to wait for the next book to come out. Lost had such a cliffhanger and I just had to know what was going to happen next! The Captive Heart series is yet another amazing series by Carrie Aarons and I cannot wait to read her other books!

About the author
Author of romance novels such as Red Card and Privileged, Carrie Aarons writes books that are just as swoon-worthy as they are sarcastic. A former journalist, she prefers the stories she dreams up, and the yoga pant dress code, much better.

When she isn't writing, Carrie is busy binging reality TV, having a love/hate relationship with cardio, and trying not to burn dinner. She lives in the suburbs of New Jersey with her husband, daughter and dog.

Synopsis

The electrifying next installment in the Red Queen series escalates the struggle between the growing rebel army and the blood-segregated world they’ve always known—and pits Mare against the darkness that has grown in her soul.

Mare Barrow’s blood is red—the color of common folk—but her Silver ability, the power to control lightning, has turned her into a weapon that the royal court tries to control. Pursued by Maven, now a vindictive king, Mare sets out to find and recruit other Red-and-Silver fighters to join in the struggle against her oppressors. But Mare finds herself on a deadly path, at risk of becoming exactly the kind of monster she is trying to defeat. Will she shatter under the weight of the lives that are the cost of rebellion? Or have treachery and betrayal hardened her forever?

Review

Glass Sword is the second book in the Red Queen series and continues the story of Mare, and is full of struggles and betrayals.

I am afraid of walking up to emptiness, to a place where my friends and family are gone and I am nothing but a single bolt of lightning in the blackness of a lonely storm.

I have to be honest and say that it’s been such a long time since I read Red Queen, the first book in the series. I read it back in 2015, and I forgot so many things. I tried to read my own review of Red Queen, some other reviews and the synopsis, and that helped a bit. I didn’t really feel like rereading Red Queen, so I just went with it and I’m glad that I did. I really missed all the characters and the story itself!

If I am a sword, I am a sword made of glass, and I feel myself beginning to shatter.

Glass Sword was such an amazing book with amazing characters, and although I did take a few days to finish the book, I loved every bit of it. The story is so interesting and I just need to know what’s going to happen to Mare, Cal and the other characters. I love that Mare isn’t your typical hero. You know that she’s struggling with who she is and she’s afraid of turning into a monster. It makes Mare a more realistic character.

No one is born evil, just like no one is born alone. They become that way, through choice and circumstance.

Glass Sword ended with such a cliffhanger, but I should’ve known that since Red Queen ended with a cliffhanger too. Luckily I own a copy of King’s Cage and War Storm, so I don’t have to wait for the next book to arrive!

Synopsis

I may know everything there is to know about baseball, but that doesn’t mean I have to like it. Or like him. Garrett Reeves: sidelined player and the embodiment of everything I’ve learned to hate about baseball. He’s gorgeous, he’s cocky, he’s laser-focused on getting back in the game, no matter the cost.

When he convinces me to call games alongside him, our chemistry heats up the booth. We’re good together, whether I want to admit it or not. I’m finding that I like baseball again, but even worse, I’m liking Garrett. A lot.

But when he has to decide between our future and a new shot at his dreams, I know baseball will win out every time.

Disclaimer: This Entangled Teen Crush book has tons of hilarious banter, lots of sexual tension, and a hero who will throw a wild pitch right at your heart.

Announcing Trouble is a Young Adult Contemporary Romance about Josie and Garrett. Josie has sworn off anything that has to do with baseball until Garrett… He changes everything for her.

Announcing Trouble is the first book I’ve read by Amy Fellner Dominy and I loved it! I love reading books about sports with a funny main character and a hot interest. This book has everything that I needed and Entangled Publishing never lets me down!

I really liked the main characters, Josie and Garrett. Josie is such a funny character, I loved reading in her perspective. And Garrett is so charming, it’s hard not to love him! Josie and Garrett have a flirty friendship even though that Josie wants to keep it ‘professional’. I love that their friendship turned into a relationship because they belong together!

I really liked Announcing Trouble, it was hard to put down and I even finished it in one sitting! The story and the characters were amazing, and I cannot wait to read another book by Amy Fellner Dominy!

Synopsis

From Carpinteria, California, we left.
In Arizona, we barely spoke.
In New Mexico, I gave him a promise that I knew I couldn’t keep.
In Texas, we slept under the stars.
In Oklahoma, he told me a story I wouldn’t soon forget.
In Louisiana, he gave my soul a voice.
Between Arkansas and Mississippi, we took full advantage of an opportunity.
In Tennessee, I studied his face.
In Kentucky, he introduced me to his parents.
In Ohio, he found my heart.
In West Virginia, we drank whiskey and told ourselves that truths are better left untold. In Maryland, we felt the weight of the night.
In Pennsylvania, his wife called.
And in New York, I asked myself one question:

Would he be able to let me go when it was time?

About the author
Author of romance novels such as Red Card and Privileged, Carrie Aarons writes books that are just as swoon-worthy as they are sarcastic. A former journalist, she prefers the stories she dreams up, and the yoga pant dress code, much better.

When she isn't writing, Carrie is busy binging reality TV, having a love/hate relationship with cardio, and trying not to burn dinner. She lives in the suburbs of New Jersey with her husband, daughter and dog.
