It's my birthday

Hi guys! Today, the 27th of February, is my BIRTHDAY! I actually was planning to make this post to upload my outfit and make-up, but lets make a bigger post!

Today is my birthday and to be honest I don't always like the attention, but today I'm okay with it. Probably because it's at a new school and with new friends. I even got a sweet card from Carolien and from Laura I got a Jeffree Star Liquid Lipstick, in the shade Unicorn Blood. My friends are so sweet💕

Yesterday my aunt, uncle, nephew and niece and it was really nice. I got 2 book tokens and a really cute heart with my niece's picture in it (I'm her godmother). We ate frangipane tart, almond cookies and pastries. It was all self-made and super delicious! Later that day, I went to my grandpa and I got 3 books, 2 lipsticks and a gift token (I will upload a 'birthday presents' post later this month because I'm going to receive a lot more gifts because some haven't arrived yet and I need to visit other people too).

Something I do want to say is that it's weird not having a birthday card with a long text in it from grandma 😕. And it makes me sad that she will never see me age.

But now something fun: here's my make-up and outfit!

  • Highlight: Sleek Highlighting Palette in Subsolar
  • Concealer: MUA Cover & Conceal in Fair
  • Upper waterline: Maybelline eye studio gel eyeliner in 01 Black
  • Lower waterline: Nyx Collection Chocolate in 03 Satin Finish Brown Liner
  • Eyeshadow: Nyx Love In Paris: 01 A La Mode, I used the light brown & dark brown shade
  • Eyeliner: Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick in Vintage
  • Random mascara!
  • Essence: Longlasting  Lipstick in 06 Don't Stop The Nude
  • Trousers: C&A
  • Star Wars top: H&M
  • Vest: C&A
  • Shoes: Vans
  • Choker
But now I gotta go because my sweet boyfriend is here!! (He gave me 2 books for my birthday!!!)

Secrets of a Reluctant Princess | Review

Title: Secrets of a Reluctant Princess
Author: Casey Griffin
Pages: 320 pages
Version: ebook (ARC)
Publisher: Entangled: Teen
Rating: ★★★★

Secrets of a Reluctant Princess tells the story of Adrianna (Andy) Bottom. She moved to Beverly Hills because her dad's toilet products have been a hit in the market and now they're rich. And because of that, there'll be a TV show about them, called Bathroom Barons. Adrianna doesn't feel like a celebrity and hates the way her stylists dress her. She's an real geek. But because she'll be on TV, she has to change her look and her behaviour. She wants to be a cool kid but she falls in love with a geek, called Kevin. Will she give up her status of cool kid or will she admit her feelings for Kevin?

Secrets of a Reluctant Princess is such an enjoyable read. I finished it in one day because it's so fast paced and easy to read. The story is really funny and sometimes dramatic, but that makes the book so good. I love the geeky things in Secrets of a Reluctant Princess because I'm a geek myself. I love reading contemporary/young adult books like this one, so I highly recommend Secrets of a Reluctant Princess to everyone who loves contemporary/young adult books!

Trip to the Ardennes

I went to the Ardennes from the 10th till the 12th of February with my boyfriend and his family. It was really fun and I had a great time! Read further to know what I've done!

We left around 5 to go to the Ardennes, to Stavelot, and we arrived at more or less 7. It was a really pretty ride because there are a lot of hills in the Ardennes and you can see all the street lights in different heights. I didn't take a picture of that because my phone doesn't take good quality pictures when it's dark. But believe me, it was so beautiful!

When we arrived we explored the house. It's a really big house because we're with 7 persons and the house was made for 9 persons. There were 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 kitchen, 1 dining room and one living room. There was also a room with a sauna and a jacuzzi and that room was heaven! I have some pictures to show you and if you click here you can visit the website and find more info about the house.

The first evening in Stavelot we stayed at home and did some relaxing in the sauna and jacuzzi. The next day we went on a hike of 7 km. It was really beautiful. We saw a lot of forests, hills and snow! Later that day we went to a cafe and in the evening we relaxed in the jacuzzi. The last day we went on another hike but this time we did one in the direction of the village. It was also beautiful but I'm happy there was no snow. I almost fell because it was really slippery and if there was snow, I definitely would have fallen! There was even a time when we were passing a river and there were 2 swans, a male and a female. The male kept following us and came out the water to attack us and the swan was so close to where I was standing, and I was so scared! But luckily it didn't hurt us and when we passed the swan again, he just followed us in the water until he saw other humans. It was kinda scary because my boyfriend read that their bite could be really harmful, it can break bones!!! But I'm happy that we saw the swans because they're so beautiful and elegant.
I'm really happy that I said yes to this trip. I really liked it, it was really pretty and I had an amazing time. I would definitely go back to Stavelot!

Untimely Return | Review

Title: Untimely Return
Series: An Untimely Romance #2
Author: J & L Wells
Pages: 262 pages
Version: Ebook (ARC)

Untimely Return is the second book in the An Untimely Romance series and is told in the perspective of Dannika. Dannika is a real flirt so she gets involved with a lot of guys: Alfred, Ruben and Kai. It's hard for her to pick a guy because they all have their pros and cons. Besides the jealousy and lust, there's a much bigger problem: the family curse. Is Dannika able to break the curse?

It was hard for me to come into the story because it's been a long time since I've read the first book in the An Untimely Romance series but after reading a few chapters I was completely hooked.

There were a lot of plot twists I didn't see coming and it made the book really interesting. I really wanted to know why things happened the way they did and what the consequences were. There were a lot of things connected to each other, which made it all so intriguing. The story is really original and interesting!

I want to thank J. Wells and L. Wells for giving me an ARC copy, you guys are the best!

  • Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J.K Rowling
Wow! I was devistated after Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I was so sad that the Harry Potter series was ended until I discoverd Harry Potter and the Cursed Child! It's such a good book, even though it's written like a script. It didn't bother me at all and it was so amazing to read! Unfortunately I can't see the play because I live in Belgium, so I'm hoping that they either film the play or make some movies!

  • Lipton Strawberry & Raspberry tea
Studying = drinking a lot of tea = discovering a lot of new tea flavours
I really like to drink a cup of tea while studying, it's relaxing and my mum got me a lot of different flavours.

The Sun Is Also A Star | Review

Title: The Sun Is Also A Star
Author: Nicola Yoon
Pages: 348 pages
Version: Paperback
Publisher: Corgi
Rating: ★

People spend their whole lives looking for love. Poems and songs and entire novels are written about it. But how can you trust something that can end as suddenly as it begins?

The Sun Is Also A Star tells the story of Natasha and Daniel. Natasha is an African American girl who loves science and facts but doesn't believe in love and fate. Today is the last day for her in America because she's being deported to Jamaica.
Daniel is a Korean American and is a poet. He strongly believes in fate and he believes that he and Natasha are meant to be. But are they?

He was some exotic planet and I was his favorite satellite. But he's no planet, just the final fading light of an already dead star.

Natasha and Daniel met when Natasha was heading to her last hope to stay in America and Daniel was on his way to an appointment for college. When they met, Daniel immediately felt a connection, but Natasha did not. Daniel tries to persuade her in the last hours Natasha has left in America. Will he succeed?

There's a Japanese phrase that I like: koi no yokan. It doesn't mean love at first sight. It's closer to love at second sight. It's the feeling when you meet someone that  you're going to fall in love with them. Maybe you don't love them right away, but it's inevitable that you will.

I loved reading in the perspective of Natasha and Daniel. It gives you a better look at who they really are. You also had chapters in other perspectives such as Irene, Natasha's dad, Daniel's dad,... But also scientific chapters. I often found them annoying because I only wanted to read in the perspective of Natasha and Daniel. That's the main reason why I gave this book 4 stars instead of 5 stars. I often found those chapters unnecessary and annoying. But sometimes they were interesting and a good add to the story. I was scared that The Sun Is Also A Star was going to end badly, but I'm glad it ended the way it ended.

I made a The Sun Is Also A Star inspired make-up look, click here to check it out!

The Sun Is Also A Star inspired make-up look | Tutorial

Hi guys! I recently read The Sun Is Also A Star and I'm in love with the cover! It's so beautiful and I wanted to make an inspired make-up look! If you want to read my review of  The Sun Is Also A Star, click here.

If you want to know how I created this look, then keep on reading!

1. I primed my eyes using an eyeshadow base. After applying the base, I set it with a light eyeshadow.
2. I used yellow eyeshadow in the beginning of my eyelid.

3. I used orange eyeshadow in the middle of my eyelid.

4. I used pink eyeshadow in the outer corner of my eyelid, and made it end into a little wing.

5. I used gel eyeliner on my waterline and also a little on my upper lash line so it would be easier to apply the eyelashes (so it won't be that visible if they aren't applied perfectly)

6. I used purple eyeshadow to smudge out the eyeliner. I followed the pink a little, so that the wing is pink and purple.

7. I applied some mascara.

8. And some big eyelashes after mascara.

9. And the very last step is highlighter! I used some in my inner corner, cheekbones and nose.

💜 I hope you guys love this make-up look and will recreate it! 💛

College update #2

Hi guys! It's been awhile since I've written another college update so here we go!

So in the beginning of January until the end of January I had 8 exams. But 1 of my exams is not graded yet because it's a part of the second semester exam and my oral exam and written exam of French are 1 grade. Some of them were difficult, some of them weren't. For those interested, here are my grades:

English: 14/20
Dutch: 11/20
French: 9/20
Economy: 17/20
Office Tools (Windows 10, Word and PowerPoint): 12/20
Translating Techniques and Tools: 9/20

I knew I'd have bad grades for French and Translating Techniques and Tools so I'm not that disappointed. It's also my first year of college so everything is new for me.

At the moment I'm having a break so I can relax a bit, read more books and watch some TV series. But to be honest, it's not really a break. I have a lot to do and I want to start my exercises of French already. If you can see my grade for French, you can get why I already want to start on them. In the first semester of school I didn't do all my exercises and that's the main reason why my grades are so low. I know I should've made them but it takes so long to score 4x minimum an 8. It's really hard but in the end I know it'll pay off. So that's why I'm already starting!

I'm looking forward to starting the second semester because we're going to spend a day at a French college, Helha, and the next day the students of Helha are coming to our school. When we go to the French school, we must talk French and when they come to our school, we must talk Dutch. It's a way to make our French and their Dutch better. I think it's an amazing idea and I'm so excited! We all got a correspondent during the first semester and mine's called Laura. I really like Laura, she's so nice and really helps me with my French. When we're chatting via Facebook, I send my texts in French and she sends her texts in Dutch. When I make a mistake, she corrects mine and vice versa.

I think this is it for today's college update. I don't really know what's going to happen in the second semester yet, but when I know more I'll definitely update you guys!
