Breaking the Fall | Release day blitz

Title: Breaking the Fall
Series: The Breaking Series #5
Author: Ember Leigh
Release date: 30 November 2019

Synopsis

A weekend of passion. An accidental baby. A lifelong love she wasn’t looking for.

In the live music industry, Eddie Valenzuela’s seen enough bands to know what good really sounds like. During one wild night out, he collides headfirst with an up-and-coming singer who puts ‘good’ to shame. She’s got the voice, the look, and holy hell, the body too. But after a sizzling week together, the singer who seemed like Mrs. Right turns out to be Mrs. Not Quite Right when she disappears without so much as an Instagram handle.

Fiona Frank’s only goal in life was to make it big doing what she loved: playing music. And her hard work paid off, in the form a big-time record deal that has her doing TV shows, radio spots, and even her first international tour. Her career is built on spurning love and staying single, though she’s never been opposed to the occasional lover. As long as they don’t last. And she’ll do whatever it takes to make sure that the world falls in love with The Sin Girl.

But she wasn’t ready for the positive pregnancy test on her first international tour. There’s only one man that could be the father: Eddie. While Fiona grapples with the next steps, Eddie is determined to make a family out of the three of them. But if the label finds out that she’s not only pregnant but seeing someone, then its goodbye stardom.

Which means she has to figure out how to break her fall.

Review

This book was provided by the author through InkSlinger PR in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Ember Leigh and InkSlinger PR!

Breaking the Fall is the fifth book in The Breaking Series and tells the story of Eddie and Fiona. Even though this is the fifth book in the series, it can be read as a standalone.

Breaking the Fall was yet another amazing book in The Breaking Series. So far, I’ve loved every book in the series, even every book I’ve read by Ember Leigh. She’s just such an amazing Romance author and she kills it every time!

Something that I really liked about Breaking the Fall, was that it’s the only book in the series (so far) that’s not about an MMA guy. Eddie is in the music industry, and he is such a sexy and such a loving man. He’s definitely one of my favourite book boyfriends! I also really liked Fiona. She’s been through a lot and she’s finally letting someone in.

Breaking the Fall was such a good book, I couldn’t stop reading because I had to know what was going to happen to the characters. Breaking the Fall is such an addictive and fast paced read! I cannot wait for the next book in The Breaking Series!

Read the other books in The Breaking Series.

Author: K.Y. Robinson
Pages: 162 pages
Version: Ebook (ARC)
Publisher: Andrews McMeel Publishing

Synopsis

From the author of The Chaos of Longing comes a powerful second collection in which Robinson uses the metaphor of water to tell a story about achieving wholeness through letting go.

Organized in three sections, Submerge explores immersion in and release from trauma, mental illness, and loss. Part one, “Immerse,” reflects on birth and beginnings while exploring themes of love, self-discovery, and cultural history. Part two, “Drown,” examines mental illness, trauma, and loss. Part three, “Emerge,” takes lessons from water and begins a journey toward healing through self-care and gratitude. Throughout the collection, Robinson’s disarming candor, vivid imagery, and supportive message inspire and empower.

you become an ocean.

Submerge is a poetry collection about love, friendship, trauma, mental illness, loss, self-harm, racism and violence, and is K.Y. Robinson’s second poetry collection. This collection is divided into three parts: immerse, drown and emerge.

i’ve found new universes in the unfolding nebulas of your eyes.
you are the first one my heart cracked open for.

Submerge is the second book I’ve read by K.Y. Robinson and I was really excited to read this collection. I really loved her first poetry collection, The Chaos of Longing, so I had some high expectations.

your name pooled inside me
and i swallowed every wave

I really liked the illustrations used in this collection. It gave it something extra. As for the poems, a lot of them were really beautiful and relatable. I kept on adding and adding more titles to my 'favourite poems' list. I didn’t expect anything else since I loved K.Y. Robinson’s first poetry collection!

when you kissed me it felt like

i wanted to be anyone else but myself.

I’m really looking forward to K.Y. Robinson’s next poetry collection! She’s such an amazing author and all over her poems are so beautiful and or emotional. I highly recommend Submerge!

The Order Anthology

Title: The Order Anthology
Series: The Order #1-3
Author: Nikki Rae

Synopsis

All three books in The Order Series in one convenient package! Enter a world of secret societies, sensuality, and scandal...

Bloom (The Order #1)
When she was sold at the age of nine to a Suitor, Fawn believed he would protect her from the “Mainworld”, where those who know nothing about the Order dwell. Living with the cruel man who bought her freedom, she finds just what the Order is about: money, control, and status for the Owner and humiliation and abuse for those they own.

Unwilling to accept the expectations of being Owned, Fawn goes from golden girl to maid, content to live in the shadows of the Order as long as she isn’t Owned again.

It’s been ten years since she disgraced her former Owner’s name, and now the brooding Frenchman Elliot Lyon wants her. Master Lyon is kind, smart, and unlike any man she’s met. She doesn’t want to admit it to herself, but Fawn is drawn to him despite constantly planning her next escape.

Even the prettiest flowers have thorns, and Master Lyon is hiding secrets that will uproot everything she thinks she knows about him.

Wilt (The Order #2)
When she was sold to Master Elliot Lyon of House Chimera, Fawn could have never imagined he was the same person as Elliot, the man beneath a well placed mask. A victim. Just like her. She would have never thought he was grooming her for the Wolf she’d already escaped once. That he planned to deliver her to the beast’s jaws in exchange for his wife. Master J├Ąger will stop at nothing to have her—even if that means using others as collateral. With more than just their lives on the line, Fawn must become someone else, and Master Lyon distances himself further from Elliot as her transfer looms.

The roots of the Order run deep within them, but Fawn is beginning to realize another bond has formed between her and her Owner, a man she vowed to destroy along with the rest of their tangled branches.

In a world where trust is just a tool and love isn’t meant for people like them, Fawn is determined to beat the powerful at their own elaborate games of make-believe. Even the man who Owns her.

Chrysalis (The Order #3)
After Wolf Manor, Fawn vowed to never be weak, broken, or scared again. She has wrenched her power from the Vultures, visiting them under the cover of darkness to deliver the same drug they’d given her. This version has a different side effect: death.

It doesn’t stop the nightmares, it can’t erase what happened, but revenge is the only distraction from Lyon Estate. Tucked in the wilderness, she draws back into herself until Master Lyon demands they make good on their deal. In order to continue her vengeance, he is to be her Owner—really this time.

While it is a small sacrifice to make, Fawn isn’t prepared to be pulled back into Elliot’s world, where the rules of the Order exist, but in a new way. Running from him sends her into the arms of others in House Chimera. People who should be off limits, but they also stir something within her wholly different than the emotions Master Lyon can conjure. Marius is patient, and she finds herself clinging to him more now than ever before. People like them don’t believe in love, but can they choose it?

Fawn is no longer the prey, but beyond the trees, a lone Wolf is hunting…

Review

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Sadie Moss!

Magic Gambit is the third and final book in the Hidden World Academy series and tells the story of Gabbi and her three men.

Magic Gambit was such a good book and I loved every bit of it! The story is amazing and the characters are so lovable. I cannot get enough of Gabbi and her men! Like I mentioned in my previous review, there hasn’t been one Sadie Moss book that I didn’t love! Magic Gambit was the perfect ending!

Gabbi’s changed so much from book 1 to book 3. She’s become such a strong and confident woman. I cannot get enough of Cross, Kasian and Theo. I mean, who can get enough of them?! I also really liked reading some more about Roxie and Bianca.

Magic Gambit was such a fast paced and well written read! I think that the ending of this book is perfect for Gabbi, her three men and even for Roxie! I really liked the concept of this amazing series and I cannot wait to read another book series by Sadie Moss!

The Mighty Anchor | Release day blitz

Title: The Mighty Anchor
Series: Rogue Academy #3
Author: Carrie Aarons
Cover design: Sarah Hansen at Okay Creations
Release date: 24 November 2019

Synopsis

A stoic force to be reckoned with.
The steady rock on which England is destined to lean.
Everyone’s reliable mate, at the ready to defend when called upon.

To the world, Vance Morley is the next great keeper for the Rogue Football Club, biding his time at the academy. The definition of tall, dark and handsome, his quiet confidence and mysterious persona only draw the public in. He’s their mighty anchor, both on and off the pitch.

But when it comes to the one woman he claims to love, he conveniently vanishes at the exact moment I need him. The first time I saw Vance, he was a ten-year-old standing on his lawn across the street.

The first time he kissed me, we were sixteen and sitting on the very shores we grew up on. We crashed into each other like waves in a storm, fated to destroy everything in our paths. Including each other. The first time Vance saw our son, by serendipitous accident, my little boy had already lived the first year of his life. And instantly, the man who chose football over me wants to have it all. There is no way I can trust his declarations of love and fatherhood, especially when I’m set to marry another man.

We’re a new game, one to occupy him until the world stage beckons. But the more I try to tell myself he’s not the one, the more Vance’s efforts to win us back increase.

How can I guard my heart against seeing my son with his father?
Can Vance really sacrifice his dreams in the name of love and family?
Is there a way that everyone else’s safe harbor can finally become mine too?

Review

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Carrie Aarons!

The Mighty Anchor is the third and final book in the Rogue Academy series and tells the story of Lara and Vance. Although this is the third book in the series, it can be read as a standalone.

The Mighty Anchor is yet another amazing book in the series. It was such a good read because I couldn’t put it down. I wanted to know what was going to happen to Lara and Vance. One of the reasons that I like this book so much is because Carrie Aarons mentions social anxiety and being introverted, and I couldn’t relate to it more!

Lara is such a strong character, but she did make some mistakes. However, she’s still an amazing character and I loved reading about her. Vance is introverted and has social anxiety and I could relate to him. I also loved how much effort he wanted to put into the relationship between him and Lara as well as the effort he wanted to put into the relationship with his son.

The Mighty Anchor was such a fast paced and well written read. I loved reading about Lara and Vance and I’m kinda sad that this series is over. Carrie Aarons did an amazing job with this series and I cannot wait to read her other books!

Review

Inferno is the fifth and final book in the Talon series and continues the story of Ember and her friends.

I’m really happy that I immediately read Inferno after reading Legion, because I finally finished this amazing series! I really liked the concept of the story and the characters were amazing! Julie Kagawa did an amazing job with the Talon series!

I mentioned in my Legion review that I had a hunch that Inferno was going to end in a specific way but it did not. And I’m happy with the real ending of Inferno. The last two books I’ve always been team X (no spoilers here hehe) so I was kinda hoping for an ending with him but I actually thought that Julie Kagawa was going to write an ending with the other guy. But like I said, I’m happy that Ember ends up with X!

I’m so glad that I read the Talon series and I wish we can read a short story about the characters because I’m going to miss them! I love reading about dragons and I think that there aren’t enough series about them! If you’re looking for an amazing YA Fantasy about dragons: read the Talon series!

Goodreads

Review

This book was provided by the author through Give Me Books Promotions in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Stefanie Jenkins and Give Me Books Promotions!

I Never Expected You is the second book in the I Never series and tells the story of Zach and Haylee. Although this is the second book in the series, it can be read as a standalone.

I Never Expected You was such an amazing book and I didn’t expect anything less from Stefanie Jenkins! Something that I really liked about I Never Expected You, was that this storyline happened more or less at the same time as the storyline of I Never Planned On You, the first book in the series. It was nice reading about Zach and Haylee’s thoughts while you know what happened in Dani and Kyler’s head.

I really loved Zach and Haylee. At first, Zach seems like a man whore but when he finally falls in love with Haylee, he’s a different man. He’s so caring and understanding, and did I say sexy?! I think Haylee and I could be best friends!

I Never Expected You was such a beautiful and emotional book! I’m a sucker for best friends to lovers Romances and this book was everything that I needed! I cannot wait to read the next book in the I Never series!

In Pennsylvania, his wife called.

Would he be able to let me go when it was time?

Review

This book was provided by the author through InkSlinger PR in exchange for an honest review. Thank you J. Lynn Bailey and InkSlinger PR!

The Light We See is a Romance standalone that tells the story of Cat and Luke.

The Light We See is the sixth book I’ve read by J. Lynn Bailey and I think it’s my favourite one so far. This story is so beautiful, moving and heartbreaking. When I first read the synopsis, I didn’t really know what to think of the story. Now that I’ve read it, I recommend it to everyone.

Cat is such a strong and beautiful woman who’s been through a lot. She didn’t grow up in the perfect family and didn’t really know what true love was. Luke had a warm and loving family and showed Cat what true love was.

I think that The Light We See is a book that everyone has to read. This story is full of hope and love as well as change and a lot of grief. I think that this story has a beautiful message and it gives me the same kind of feelings that Standing Sideways gave me. I cannot wait for the J. Lynn Bailey’s next (emotional) book!

About the author
J. Lynn is a bestselling author who hates to talk about herself. Loathes it. More importantly, she's the mother of two beautiful children and a wife to her high school sweetheart. She's also a mother of two extremely needy cats, Leo and Vinni, and an Australian Shepherd named Grizz. She lives with her family in a small town tucked away in the redwood forest, located on California's northern coast.

Review

This book was provided by the author through Give Me Books Promotions in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Ella Fox and Give Me Books Promotions!

Beauty and the Badge is the first book in the Charlotte’s Cove series and tells the story of Ashley and Tyler.

Beauty and the Badge is the first book I’ve read by Ella Fox and won’t be the last one! I loved reading this book and it was so hard to put this one down. I loved the story and I couldn’t get enough of it. Ashley and Tyler are just so cute together!

Ashley is such a relatable character. It’s hard not to like her because she acts and thinks like so many other women! I love the fact that she chose to go back to her ‘childhood’ place. Tyler is such a sweet and handsome guy, it’s hard not to fall in love with him. Too bad not all guys are like him!

Beauty and the Badge was such an amazing Romance read and I cannot wait to read the next book in the Charlotte’s Cove series! I will probably love every book in the series!

Synopsis

After being held up at gunpoint, Ashley Colton realizes that life in the big city isn’t for her. She decides to take the biggest risk of her life and move to Charlotte’s Cove, the small seaside sanctuary where she’s vacationed every summer since childhood.

Everything falls perfectly into place until her first day of work, where she meets her new boss Tyler Jameson, the chief of police. The chemistry between Ashley and Tyler is instant and powerful, but for reasons of their own, both are cautious about jumping in.

When a woman from Tyler’s past surfaces, Ashley retreats, making Tyler realize that if he’s going to show Ashley she’s the only one who has his attention, then he needs to stop being hesitant and put everything on the line.

Is the badge powerful enough to win the beauty who holds his heart?

I did the right thing. I waited. I wanted it to be special.
He was my first love. Our first time was going to be everything I had dreamed it would be.
And it was…until we were interrupted.
When our magical night turned into an awkward nightmare, little did I know it would be the last time I saw him. He bailed. Walked away. Leaving me alone with the shattered pieces of my broken heart.
But that was then. This is now.
He’s back. A megasuperstar. A Hollywood heartthrob with a desperate fan base of sexy women that won’t leave him alone.
But he wants me. Still. After all these years.
I can’t possibly cave to my feelings, desires, and my hopeful heart.
He broke it once. He’ll do it again.

We waited. It felt like forever, but I didn’t care. I would’ve done anything for her.
But I screwed up. When it all went south, I fled, leaving her, alone.
Broken hearted.
And she wasn’t the only one.
But that was then. This is now.
I may be an actor, but none of this is for show. I want her, and only her.
I’ll do whatever it takes.
She may be the last virgin in Texas, but to me, she’s so much more.
I want her in my arms, and in my heart. Forever.
This time, I’m not giving up.

About the author
Jennifer Woodhull is based in the Southern United States, spending time in her second home of England, and traveling as often as she can. Her love of travel permeates her work, and her characters often find themselves exploring new and foreign surroundings.

A keen observer of human behavior, Jennifer often draws inspiration from something as simple as a fleeting connection, or the glimpse of a unique trait or characteristic. Her favorite place to write is on airplanes.

"The drone of the engine, the scores of people, all traveling to something or from something, and being disconnected from digital distractions are a combination that provide the perfect place to write," she says. "If you see a woman in seat 9F who is balancing her Macbook on her lap because it's time to close your tray table, please have patience. I'm just trying to finish one more sentence."
