The Light We See | Review

Title: The Light We See
Author: J. Lynn Bailey
Version: Ebook (ARC)
Release: 12 November 2019
Rating: ★★★★★

Synopsis

From Carpinteria, California, we left.
In Arizona, we barely spoke.
In New Mexico, I gave him a promise that I knew I couldn’t keep.
In Texas, we slept under the stars.
In Oklahoma, he told me a story I wouldn’t soon forget.
In Louisiana, he gave my soul a voice.
Between Arkansas and Mississippi, we took full advantage of an opportunity.
In Tennessee, I studied his face.
In Kentucky, he introduced me to his parents.
In Ohio, he found my heart.
In West Virginia, we drank whiskey and told ourselves that truths are better left untold. In Maryland, we felt the weight of the night.
In Pennsylvania, his wife called.
And in New York, I asked myself one question:

Would he be able to let me go when it was time?

Review

This book was provided by the author through InkSlinger PR in exchange for an honest review. Thank you J. Lynn Bailey and InkSlinger PR!

The Light We See is a Romance standalone that tells the story of Cat and Luke.

The Light We See is the sixth book I’ve read by J. Lynn Bailey and I think it’s my favourite one so far. This story is so beautiful, moving and heartbreaking. When I first read the synopsis, I didn’t really know what to think of the story. Now that I’ve read it, I recommend it to everyone.

Cat is such a strong and beautiful woman who’s been through a lot. She didn’t grow up in the perfect family and didn’t really know what true love was. Luke had a warm and loving family and showed Cat what true love was.

I think that The Light We See is a book that everyone has to read. This story is full of hope and love as well as change and a lot of grief. I think that this story has a beautiful message and it gives me the same kind of feelings that Standing Sideways gave me. I cannot wait for the J. Lynn Bailey’s next (emotional) book!

The Bookworm Crush | Review

Title: The Bookworm Crush
Author: Lisa Brown Roberts
Pages: 250 pages
Version: Kindle
Publisher: Entangled: Teen
Release date: 29 October 2019
Rating: ★★★★

Synopsis

Shy bookworm Amy McIntyre is about to compete for a dream scholarship, and the only way to win is to transform from sidekick to the heroine of her own life. But that level of confidence has never come easy.

The solution? A competition coach. The problem? The best person for the job is the guy she’s secretly crushing on … local surfer celebrity Toff Nichols.

He’s a player. He’s a heartthrob. He makes her forget basic things, like how to breathe. How can she feel any confidence around him?

To her surprise, Toff agrees to help. And he’s an excellent teacher. Amy feels braver – maybe even brave enough to admit her feelings for him. When their late night practices become less about coaching and more about making out, Amy’s newfound confidence wavers.

But does Toff really like her or is this just another lesson?

Review

This book was provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Entangled Teen!

The Bookworm Crush is a Young Adult Contemporary about Amy, a bookworm, and Toff, a surfer. The Bookworm Crush is a spinoff of The Replacement Crush, but can be read as a standalone.

The Bookworm Crush is the first book I’ve read by Lisa Brown Robers and I really liked! I love reading books where the protagonist is a bookworm and I’m a sucker for the fake dating trope! The book was such an easy and fun read.

I really liked the main characters. Amy is such a book nerd, and she wants to win this contest to meet her favourite author. I think it was so cute how much effort she put into the contest. Toff is your typical surfer guy but he’s also really nice and wants to help Amy. I think Amy and Toff had an amazing connection.

The Bookworm Crush was a good Contemporary read and I didn’t expect anything else because it’s published by Entangled: Teen. I really like their books. I recommend The Bookworm Crush when you’re looking for an easy read with some cute romance!

November Bullet Journal set up

So far I’ve been really consistent with posting my Bullet Journal set ups and I’m really happy with that. I really like what I’ve been creating the past couple of months: set ups with pictures from Pinterest to decorate the pages. November’s theme is a black/grey aesthetic and I’m loving it! You might’ve seen a flip through on my Instagram stories, but here are the pictures.

Previous Bullet Journal set ups:
As I mentioned in my other blog posts, my inspiration comes from Sarah’s Spark, a lovely human being. She deserves a mention in every post that she inspired!

First, we have my monthly spread, nothing’s changed except the theme.

After my monthly spread, I have a habit tracker spread and a brain dump spread. I’ve used last month’s brain dump spread for things that I have planned in November and some other stuff so it’s really handy!

The next couple of my pictures are my weekly spreads. The grid on every left page is to write down which hours I’ll be at school or work to get an overview.

And we also have a wrap up spread, like usual!

I hope you guys liked this Bullet Journal set up and feel free to pin this post on Pinterest!

Dark Fae | Review

Title: Dark Fae
Series: Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac #1
Author: Caroline Peckham & Susanne Valenti
Pages: 469 pages
Version: Ebook (ARC)
Release date: 25 October 2019
Rating: ★★★★★

Synopsis

What do a heartless Dragon Shifter, a cold-blooded Basilisk, an arrogant Lion Shifter and a brooding, tattooed Harpie have in common…?
Me.

Elise Callisto. Vampire. Badass. And a girl on a mission to destroy one of them for murdering my brother. I just don’t know which one did it yet.

When I kicked the ass of a Werewolf who was high on a new and dangerous drug called Killblaze, his final words painted a dark reality for me. The King of Aurora Academy killed my brother. The trouble is, there’s four kings at that school and each of them have motive and cutthroat natures.

Aurora Academy isn’t a place for the faint of heart. To put it lightly, my town is the asshole of Solaria where the dodgiest Fae in the kingdom reside. The school itself is divided by the two gangs who run this town. The Lunar Brotherhood and the Oscura Clan. And guess what? Two of the kings run the gangs at the school, their hatred for each other so fierce I hear a day doesn’t go by without blood being spilled in the halls.

I might be a petite, lilac-haired girl who looks like a fragile doll, but they haven’t been introduced to my fangs yet. And they don’t know why I’m really here. Or that I’ll do whatever it takes to bring down the Fae who took my flesh and blood from me.

I don’t believe in fate, but I do know this … the King who killed my brother is a dead man walking. And I’m prepared to sacrifice my heart, body and soul to ensure I get my revenge.

This is a reverse harem series set in the world of Zodiac Academy four years before the Vega Twins were Awakened. Expect some character cross-over, dark and hot romance, and a twisted murder mystery which will leave your head spinning.

Review

This book was provided by the authors in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti!

Dark Fae is the first book in The Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac series and tells the story of Elise and her four Kings. The Ruthless Boys of the Zodiac is a spin-off series of Supernatural Beasts and Bullies but you don’t have to read that series to read Dark Fae.

A spin-off series of Supernatural Beasts and Bullies? SIGN ME UP! Dark Fae was such a fast-paced and well-written book, wow! I couldn’t stop reading the entire time because I wanted to know what was going to happen to Elise and what really happened to Gareth.

Elise is such an amazing and badass character. I love her personality and how she acts when the four Kings are around. Speaking of these Kings, I don’t really have a favourite yet. I do know that I have some mixed feelings about Ryder since he’s a bit weird. No spoilers but there’s a certain scene with Gabriel that I cannot get out of my head!

I really loved Dark Fae because it was just such an amazing book and I loved Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti’s take on the Reverse Harem genre. And I’m kinda angry at the ending of Dark Fae, so I need the sequel NOW, thank you.

Review

This box set was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Carrie Aarons!

Over the Fence Box Set is a box set of 3 amazing books and 1 amazing novella! I loved reading all of these stories because they were so beautiful and emotional. This box set isn’t just a Romance box set, it’s so much more. These books are about friendship, family issues, abusive relationships, death, …

Pitching to Win ★★★★★
A beautiful Romance story about trust and earning trust. Our main character has been through some stuff so it’s hard for her to trust a guy again.

Hitting to Win ★★★★★
I’ve always been a sucker for ballet because I’ve always wanted to be a ballerina. So it’s no surprise that I loved this story. This story wasn’t only about dance, but also about death and family issues.

Catching to Win ★★★★★
This story focused on some family issues and body issues, and it was a best friends to lovers Romance.

Fielding to Win ★★★★★
This is the most emotional story in the box set, it’s about abusive relationships. Although it was a novella, it didn’t feel rushed at all!

The Over the Fence Box Set was so addictive! I finished every book in two days and the novella in one day! I loved getting to know the characters and reading about these 4 handsome jocks! I highly recommend this series and t might be my favourite one by Carrie Aarons!

Review

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Nikki Rae!

Scorch is the fourth book in The Order series and continues the story of Fawn, Elliot and Marius.

Scorch was yet another amazing and dark book by Nikki Rae. I really liked reading about Fawn and her two men again because I just love this series. I don’t know how to write all my feelings and thoughts down. That’s the effect Nikki Rae’s writing has on me. She’s just that good!

Like I mentioned in my review of Chrysalis, Fawn’s changed so much, even in Scorch she changed and became a stronger woman. I love the relationship between Fawn and Marius, it’s just so easy, in my opinion, whereas the relationship between Fawn and Elliot is a bit more complicated. But not complicated as in a bad way, I just don’t really know how to describe their relationship in one word. But it is clear that she loves both men.

Scorch was just everything that I needed. I love Nikki Rae’s writing and every time she writes a new book, I just have to read it! I cannot wait to read the next book in The Order series!

Review

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Emilia Zeeland!

The Hive Engineers is the third book in the STAR Academy and continues the story of Yalena and her friends and family.

I liked The Hive Engineers, but I don’t know why it took me a while to get into the story. I really liked the previous books in the series, so I’m not sure why I took me that long to get into the story. I got into the story around 50%, and then I finished the book pretty quickly.

I really liked the concept of this story, it’s so original and nothing like I’ve read before. The characters are interesting and I wanted to know how the story was going to end. However, I will be honest and say that this wasn’t my favourite one in the series, but that doesn’t mean that I didn’t like it!

I liked The Hive Engineers and it’s a great ending for the series. I’m looking forward to Emilia Zeeland’s next series!

The Second We Met | Release day blitz

Title: The Second We Met
Series: Fulton U #2
Author: Maya Hughes
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release date: 17 October 2019

Synopsis

Dear Jerk Across the Street, sorry for accidentally walking in on you and catching an eyeful of your – equipment. And hard pass on the open invitation to join you in the shower ‘anytime’, A-hole.

That’s the note I should’ve written. Instead I sent a pleasant and apologetic version.

Had I known Phoenix ‘Nix’ Russo would’ve been the neighbor from hell, I’d have told him right where he could shove my words.

Nix is the big man on campus with everyone lined up at his games to make sure he knows it. Sure, he’s got piercing blue eyes, abs that don’t quit and a smile that could set fire to a set of panties from a hundred yards away, but he’s also the biggest pain in my ass.

Dear Pink-Haired Menace, learn how to take a joke and stop being such a kill-joy…

Elle Masterson called the cops on one of my parties – again. My sweet talking usually gets me out of trouble, but this time it got me into a nice pair of silver handcuffs. Now I’m on a reputation rehab tour with a stop at a spring break community service project.

Guess who’s my new boss?

Now we’re shoulder to shoulder, sweaty, tired and … she’s not anything like I expected. There might just be a heart under that hardass exterior. She’s invading my dreams and I can’t shake the feeling she’s the key to unlocking a piece of me that I’ve hidden away.

It’s only a matter of time until she finds out why I’m really here.

Maybe I can break through her walls and into her heart before that happens … one screw at a time.

Review

This book was provided by the author through Give Me Books Promotions in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Maya Hughes!

The Second We Met is the second book in the Fultun U series and tells the story of Elle and Nix. Although this is the second book in the series, it can be read as a standalone.

The Second We Met is the first book I’ve read by Maya Hughes and I really liked it! I had no expectations at all since I hadn’t read a book by her yet, but now I’ll have some expectations when I read her next book! The Second We Met was such a good Sports Romance/New Adult book!

I really liked the characters. Elle’s parents used to have money, and now they have barely anything. She needs to student jobs and on top of that she does charity to be able to win an award that will help her get a good job. Nix is an athlete whose father wants him to play football even though his passion is cooking with his grandfather. Our main characters don’t have the best family situation and that’s what I like so much about this story: it makes it more realistic and not just about the Romance.

The Second We Met was such a fast paced and well written read. I loved reading about Elle and Nix because they’re a match made in heaven! I really enjoyed reading this book and I cannot wait to read the other books in the Fultun U series!

About the author
Maya Hughes has always loved romance novels. One look at her Kindle is confirmation. She started writing her first romance novel while pregnant with her third child and she hasn’t looked back. Now, her romance writing addiction has replaced her romance reading addiction.

You can find her writing on her foldable keyboard and phone anytime inspiration strikes. Her sweet and steamy stories range from rockstars to small towns and everything in between. When she’s not writing, she’s playing with her three kids, running errands or vegging on the couch with the love of her life and biggest fan, her husband.

Review

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Caroline Peckham!

Demon of Mine is the first book in The Devil Heart Boys series and tells the story of Elle and Jack.

Demon of Mine is yet another amazing book written by Caroline Peckham. So far there hasn’t been a book by her that I didn’t love. Every book Caroline Peckham writes is so well written, fast paced and just everything that I needed!

Elle is such a lovable main character. I love her passion for dancing and how interested she is in the occult. Jack is kind of an ass until you get to read the chapters in his perspective and know why he acts like that. I love the double perspective and I just love Elle and Jack!

I think Demon of Mine is one of my favourite books so far, together with the Zodiac Academy series. Demon of Mine is a different kind of story that what Caroline Peckham usually writes, which makes me love it even more! I cannot wait for the next book in the series!
