This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Nikki Rae!

Fawn was given to The Grim Order when she was a child but she was never really bought because the first Master she had, couldn’t keep her. He treated her like a dog and she disgraced him. Now that she’s 19, she’s finally bought by Master Lyon (Elliot) and he’s everything she didn’t expect him to be. But can Fawn trust him?

First of all, I want to apologise for my review because I’m not sure if I’m going to make any sense at all. Bloom is such an intriguing and interesting book and I couldn’t put it down. After every chapter, I had to continue because I had to know what happened.

Bloom is such a good book and I really like the characters. Fawn and Elliot (Master Lyon) are such complicated persons and they never really show who they really are until the end of the book. Fawn is such a strong character and I love that she was so determined to escape. Elliot (or Master Lyon) seemed like a good master, not too harsh or mean and he was even kind and smart, but when I read the ending of Bloom, I was blown away! I just couldn’t believe his true intentions.

Bloom was such a fast-paced read and that plot twist at the end of the book… I’m not going to say too much because otherwise, I’m going to spoil everything, but omg… I didn’t see it coming. I DID NOT! Bloom is just another amazing book written by Nikki Rae and I cannot wait to read the sequel!

Review

This book was provided by the Publisher through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Netgalley and Wednesday Books!

This Heart of Mine tells the story of Leah and Matt. Leah doesn’t have a working heart and Matt’s brother just died – suicide they say. The weirdest thing ever is that Leah gets Matt’s brother's heart and since then she starts to have dreams about a guy running in the woods.
Matt doesn’t believe his brother killed himself, so he and Leah are trying to find out who killed his brother and during their time together, they start to fall for each other.
But will they discover who killed his brother? And is Leah’s body going to reject her new heart?

This Heart of Mine is such a beautiful yet sad book. There were some moments that I was crying and sad, but there were also moments that I couldn’t stop smiling. This Heart of Mine is fast paced and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I couldn’t stop reading and I was non-stop thinking about the end. I was hoping for a happy end, but I wasn’t sure if I was going to get one. I love the main characters, Leah and Matt. They’re both so funny and has dealt with a lot of stuff. They also grew towards the end of the book, they weren’t as sad as in the beginning and they’re madly in love with each other.

This Heart of Mine is the perfect read for people who love to read YA and contemporary with a sad twist. I cannot wait to discover more amazing books written by C.C. Hunter!

I bought a Bullet Journal

I finally bought a Bullet Journal! I’ve been seeing a lot of beautiful Bullet Journal posts and I was always wondering whether I should or should not buy one. I am a very creative person, but I always thought I wasn’t good enough to start a Bullet Journal. I didn’t have the most beautiful handwriting or my drawings weren’t always that pretty. I always thought about the negative parts until Sarah started posting Bullet Journal pictures on her Snapchat story.
Sarah is such a creative person, she has an amazing job at Lush, a beautiful Instagram feed and the best YouTube channel ever. She started her Bullet Journal in November, and she started posting pictures of her Bullet Journal on Snapchat. I saw these stories and I started feeling very creative and I wanted to buy a Bullet Journal as well. I talked about it to her, and she encouraged me to buy one. That said, I was looking up pictures on Pinterest for inspiration and now I have a beautiful Bullet Journal Board on my Pinterest.

I was talking to Sarah about her Bullet Journal in January, but I didn’t buy one immediately. In January I had my exams so it wasn’t the best idea to go buy one because then I knew for sure that I wasn’t going to study at all. I was already having some difficulties with studying because I got distracted easily and everything was more interesting than my summaries. But, after my exams, I finally bought a Bullet Journal.

My Bullet Journal is from Action and it only costs €2 which is very cheap. It contains 150 pages so I can definitely write and draw a lot!

I also bought some cute pens so I could make my Bullet Journal very colourful. The pens that I bought are €1.49 per set and I bought them at Kruidvat.

I also bought some cute stickers. I saw them at Kruidvat as well and I couldn’t put them down. They looked so cute and adorable, I just had to have them! They are €0.49 and they are from Diana Leeflang’s collaboration with Kruidvat.
And the last things that I use are a black fineliner pen (0.4) and a mechanical pencil. I use a mechanical pencil because it’s a smaller pencil so it’s easier to draw fine lines.

The last thing that I wanted to put in this blog post are the links to the inspiration I got from other people as well as my Pinterest Board:
I am definitely going to write more Bullet Journal posts because I really like Bullet Journaling and let me know whether you have a Bullet Journal or not and maybe send me some inspiration!

Sentient | Review

Pages: 155 pages
Version: Ebook (ARC)
Rating: ★★★★

Review

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Kenechi Udogu!

Sentient is the sequel to Aversion and continues the story of Gemma and Russ. Gemma finally discovered that she’s a Progressive Empath and is now trying to figure out how to work with her new abilities. She doesn’t really know what to think of her and Russ’ Sentient link and she’s also plagued with nightmares…

Sentient is an amazing sequel and I couldn’t wish for a better sequel. Sentient starts were Aversion left off and it’s easy to follow. You get immediately sucked into Gemma’s world and her problems. Sentient, like Aversion, is a fast-paced book with an interesting theme.

I really liked that there was some good character development. Gemma was really unsure of her abilities and her Sentient link with Russ, but at the end of the book she was more confident and trusted her Sentient link more than in the beginning. Russ has always been good to Gemma and has always been there for her. I think it would be so frustrating for Russ to be in love with Gemma and he’s not allowed to touch her. But, like the good friend he is, he gives Gemma her space. I really like Gemma and Russ’ relationship and I cannot wait to read more about the two of them.

Sentient was such a good book and I cannot wait to read the third book, Keepers!

Lush Catastrophe Cosmetic Face Mask | Review

Brand: Lush
Product: Catastrophe Cosmetic Face Mash
Price: €11.50 for 75 gr
Rating: ★
*3.5/5*

Review

I've always wanted to try out a Lush face mask because I see people on my Instagram using them and it always looks so cool! The second reason that I wanted to try out Lush face masks is that Lush is a cruelty-free brand and they have a lot of vegan products. I think that it's so cool that these face masks are freshly made and that they are anti-animal cruelty!

I was doing some research on the Lush face masks and I came across this website giving a top 12 Best Lush face masks. I chose the Catastrophe Cosmetic Face Mask because of its effect. It should help with redness, it's an acne-fighting mask and it has restorative qualities.

The Catastrophe Cosmetic Face Mask is a cruelty-free and vegan face mask that contains the following ingredients:
These ingredients come from Lush' website.

When I first opened the lid, I wasn't impressed by the smell. It's a special kind of smell and I'm not that fond of it. I don't really mind that the smell isn't that great because when you wash off the face mask, you don't really smell it anymore. When I used the face mask, I used a generous amount of the product and left it on for about 10 minutes. After the first time, my skin felt really soft and kind of calm? I don't know how to say this, but this face mask has a calming effect.

I tried this product for an entire month because that's how long you can keep it. The face masks are freshly made so of course there's an expiration date. I used the face mask 2 times a week. The first time my skin felt smooth, but after trying it for the second time I noticed that I had some dry patches on my forehead. I have these dry patches regularly so I don't really think that these patches are because of the face mask.

After a month, I feel like that this face mask was really relaxing and calming. It was really nice to use it 2 times a week and it became sort of like a routine. I really like the face mask because it makes my skin feel softer after removing the face mask. I cannot wait to try out another face mask from Lush!

College update #3

It’s been awhile since I wrote a college update and I’m sorry for that. I wasn’t really feeling it last year. It’s been a rough year with my grandma passing away and failing some classes. I just wasn’t feeling it but this year my exams went well and I have more motivation than last year!
If you haven’t read my first college update or my second college update, make sure to check it out so you get the whole story.

So when I started college in September again, I had more motivation than the year before. I was motivated to pass French this time, and I was making a bigger effort for college. I also started going to a school counsellor and then a therapist who also motivated me.

My exams were in January and I wasn’t so sure if I was going to pass them. I couldn’t concentrate when I was studying and there wasn’t much motivation either. But during the exam period, I tried my best to study and I am happy to say to you guys that I passed all my exams. Here are my grades:

Business English: 13/20
Business French: 14/20
Conversation Management: 15/20
Corporate Communication: 12/20
Excel: 14/20
Multilingual communication: 12/20

I couldn’t believe that I passed all my exams. I was having dinner at a restaurant with my boyfriend for our four-year anniversary and I was anxiously checking my phone to see if I already got a mail for my grades. When I finally did, I saw my grades and I instantly had tears in my eyes, happy tears. I’m also glad that my boyfriend, parents, sister and grandpa were really proud of me, so that gave me a really good feeling.

Now it’s already February and I’m in my second week of the second semester. I’m still really motivated, probably because of my good grades, so I will hope that this motivation will stick until the end of my semester!

Cedric the Demonic Knight | Review

Title: Cedric the Demonic Knight
Series: Cedric #1
Author: Valerie Willis
Pages: 361 pages
Version: Ebook (ARC)
Rating:

Review
This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Valerie Willis!

Cedric the Demonic Knight tells the story of Cedric, who he is and why he’s so attracted to Angeline. Cedric the Demonic Knight is about Cedric and Angeline’s adventure, how they defeat several monsters as well as start to fall in love with each other.

Cedric the Demonic Knight is a paranormal book with a lot of paranormal creatures such as vampires, werewolves, zombies, succubi, incubi, witches, chimeras, … and a lot more. It was really cool that there were so many different kinds of paranormal creatures but I would’ve wanted a list of all the explanations of the different creatures. I was constantly thinking about what kind of creature the character was and from which history they came from. So a list of all the explanations would’ve been handy!

Besides the list, I also want to say that Cedric the Demonic Knight was a bit long-threaded. In the beginning of the book everything went really fast, but then the more I read the more I felt like it was a bit boring with unnecessary information. Don’t get me wrong, I really like the concept of this book with all the different kinds of creatures, but it would’ve been better if it was a tad shorter.

The main characters, Cedric and Angeline, were both a bit annoying. I really like that Cedric is a special kind of creature because he’s a mix of a moroi and an incubus, but it was a bit irritating that he always had to be rude to Angeline, and Angeline was crying all the time. I do want to say that there was a good character development, they slowly started to like – even love each other and they became better persons. Cedric started to accept what Angeline truly means to him and Angeline started to cry less and she became braver.

Cedric the Demonic Knight was an interesting read because of the different kinds of creatures and the good character development. I also liked that there were a few pictures of the creatures in the book! I always love pictures in a book because it gives something extra!

Collide is the first book in The Collide Series and tells the story of Gemma and Ben. Gemma and Ben have been friends for such a long time, but they are falling for each other. They have even been in love with each other for such a long time but Gemma always thought that Ben didn’t feel the same way about her, that he saw her as just a friend…

Collide is such a beautiful and short book. I read it in one sitting and I enjoyed every page of it. The story is really fast paced and you can totally relate to it.

Gemma is a very anxious and socially awkward, and I’m totally like her. The book begins with Gemma and Ben going out and Gemma totally doesn’t want to because she’s rather at home with a book and she says that ‘As much as I wanted to be social, being around people tended to make everything worse.’ And that’s so me, so I really loved that I could relate to Gemma.

When I read about Ben, I immediately thought of my boyfriend. Before my boyfriend and I were together, we were best friends and he was in love with another girl. I always hated that other girl even though she didn’t do anything wrong, but I was always a good friend that helped him get the girl. My boyfriend is just like Ben, the one who saved me from my unhappiness, like Ben saved Gemma from her brother’s death.

I really loved Gemma and Ben and I cannot wait to continue this series because of that ending… Give me book 2 already!!!

This book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Kenechi Udogu!

Aversion tells the story of Gemma Green who is one of the only female Averters – someone who can put a thought into someone’s mind in order to change their future. Gemma has the task of stopping Russ from going to a party by car because otherwise he’ll kill his friend. Everything went okay until she also put the thought of quitting smoking in his mind… The next day Russ talks to Gemma for the first time, so something must’ve gone wrong, right?

I really like the Averters and Progressive Empaths and their abilities. Gemma always thought she was the only female Averter, but there are actually more female Averters like her and they are called Progressive Empaths. The Progressive Empaths have more abilities than Averters. You also have Sentient Twins in this story. A Sentient Twin is a person you are drawn to, someone you will always find no matter where you are.

I love the world of Aversion because it's so unique and interesting. The thought of being a guardian angel by controlling someone's mind is so original!

I have read this book once in 2013 and I devoured and loved it again in 2018. Aversion is definitely something interesting and unique! Make sure to check out next week’s review because I will review the sequel, Sentient, as well!

Bloom | Cover reveal

Title: Bloom
Series: The Order Series #1
Author: Nikki Rae
Release date: 28 February 2018

Synopsis
Given to The Grimm Order as an infant, Fawn was raised in a world shaped by the rich and powerful. When she was sold at the age of nine to a Suitor, Fawn believed he would protect her from the “Mainworld”, where those who know nothing about the Order live. Living with the cruel man who bought her freedom, she finds just what the Order is about: money, control, and status for the Owner and humiliation and abuse for those they own.
Unwilling to accept the expectations of being Owned, Fawn goes from golden girl to maid, content to live in the shadows of the Order as long as she isn’t Owned again.
It’s been ten years since she disgraced her former Owner’s name, and now the brooding Frenchman Elliot Lyon wants her. Master Lyon is kind, smart, and unlike any man she’s met. She doesn’t want to admit it to herself, but Fawn is drawn to him despite constantly planning her next escape.
Even the prettiest flowers have thorns, and Master Lyon is hiding secrets that will uproot everything she thinks she knows about him.

Excerpt
“Fawn,” he said suddenly, his voice soft but still making me jump in my seat. “Were they out of flower names?” he asked, a smile in his voice.

He let on that he knew about the inner-workings of the actual Compound more than my last Owner. Then again, my last one only cared about one thing. He didn't play these mind games this guy seemed to like.

Master Lyon sighed, convinced I wouldn't answer, but for some reason I couldn't keep my mouth shut.

“I was one of the originals at the California Compound.” I hesitated almost too long before I brought my eyes back to his face. He was staring, waiting for me to say more. “We all had animal names,” I said, trying and failing to hide the disgust in my voice.

“Fawn,” he said. “With those eyes?”

I blinked, wondering what he meant.

“They’re so large and expressive,” he explained. “You’re more of a Doe to me.”

So this would be my new name? Not Dog or Whore, but Doe?

He smiled like I’d said something funny but I wasn't joking. “Do you not like it?”
I didn't know why he cared if I did or did not like something. It shouldn't matter to him. I didn't like any of this and it was obvious. He was asking to toy with me, get me to talk. I was done talking. I bit the inside of my cheek to keep the words from spilling out.

V Games: Fresh From The Grave continues the story of Selena, Varick and their friends.

I loved V Games for the multiple perspectives and now in V Games: Fresh From The Grave you have even more perspectives. You can read from the perspective of Selena, Varick, Jameson, Cass, Ulvic and Mercy. I love the multiple perspectives because you get to know a lot more about the characters. You get to know their feelings, thoughts and their past.

V Games: Fresh From The Grave is an amazing sequel, wow just wow! I couldn’t stop reading because it was so good and interesting. You see a lot of character development, you see Selena grow as a person and become braver and fiercer. You see Varick, Cass and Jameson struggle with their true nature and you also get to know a lot more characters.

I just love Selena! I think she and I would be best friends forever! I agree with all her choices and I would definitely love Varick as well! I cannot wait to see how their relationship will be in the third book. I also cannot wait for Cass and Jameson because wow!

V Games: Fresh From The Grave is a well-written vampire book and I cannot wait to read the third and final book in the series because the ending of V Games: Fresh From The Grave makes me want to read the third book right NOW!

Review

This book was provided by the publisher through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Netgalley and Simon Schuster/TED.

How to Fix a Broken Heart is a nonfiction book about heartbreak and the effects of heartbreak. How to Fix a Broken Heart contains a lot of research and examples, which makes the book clearer and easier to understand. This book is written by a psychologist and because of that, there’s a good and thorough explanation of heartbreak.

How to Fix a Broken Heart is such an interesting book about mental health. I have experienced my fair share of heartbreak and a lot of people thought I was overreacting. I love that Guy Winch says that you cannot overreact because heartbreak, whether over a person or over a pet, is something real and something we need to acknowledge.

How to Fix a Broken Heart is the perfect read when you want to discover more about heartbreak. This book gives us the ugly truths about heartbreak and what we actually should do in order to be free from heartbreak. I couldn’t stop reading How to Fix a Broken Heart because it was so well written with good examples and an interesting research.

There were times that I was speechless when I figured out that for example that love is like an addiction and when we are without the person we love (the drug) we think a lot about the person (the drug) and start feeling these cravings for him or her and it makes us lose our sleep and our appetite, it causes anxiety, … (This is from a study of the brain which revealed that loving someone activates both brain structures that are associated with addiction.) If you think about it, it definitely is like that and it’s kind of scary.

How to Fix a Broken Heart is definitely a recommendation because the book is just so interesting and hard to put down!

IsaDora Stretch Lash Mascara | Review

Product: Stretch Lash Mascara
Collection: Spring Collection 2018 – Spring Atelier
Brand: IsaDora
Price: €19.50
Rating: ★
*3.5/5*

Review
The Stretch Lash Mascara from IsaDora is the third and last product that I will review in the Spring Collection of 2018. I got this product as PR from IsaDora together with the Blush & Glow Draping Wheel and the Precise Roll-On Eyeliner. The entire Spring Collection is now available at all Inno stores and the better beautician (in Belgium).

The Stretch Lash Mascara is a mascara where you can change the size of the brush. You can change the brush by turning the mascara. The long brush is for volume, length and spreading and the short brush is for extra volume and full lashes. This mascara comes in 4 colours namely: Black, Dark Brown, Dark Blue and Burgundy.

I don’t have really long lashes myself and they are never really curly. This mascara may change that. The Stretch Lash Mascara is such a special mascara because you can change the size of the brush and I really liked that about this mascara.

In the beginning, I didn’t know what to do first. First the long brush and then the short brush, or the in the other way? I’ve tried both and I personally think that first the long brush and then the small brush is the best method.

As you can see in the picture this mascara did its work. My lashes are a bit longer and fuller. It was a bit annoying that the mascara left some mascara on my eyes. I had to remove it with a cotton bud which caused that my lashes were a little mixed with each other.

Something I find a bit unfortunate as well is that this mascara is not waterproof. I can wear the mascara all day without a problem, even when it rained I hadn’t really any problems, but I always want to be sure to wear a waterproof mascara. But besides these small points, this mascara is really good!
